In this peaceful lodge deep in the North Devon countryside, you can enjoy a homely rural setting with gorgeous views. Spend chilly evenings relaxing inside with the cosy wood burner, and warm days outside on the charming, decked area. Careful attention to detail and exceptional quality furniture and fittings make this a truly delightful place to stay. The beautifully decorated bedrooms are equipped with antique-style beds and bedding that perfectly matches the decor. Outside the property, a decked balcony wraps around the accommodation and there’s a charcoal BBQ and furniture for prolonged dinners in the fresh air. The adjacent field is the perfect place to walk the dog in the morning.

When it’s time to explore your surroundings, the South West Coast Path (9 miles) and the Tarka Trail (2 miles) both offer wonderful trails for making the most of the scenery – the latter is particularly good for cycling. The magical haven that is Exmoor National Park is also just 9 miles north. Westward Ho! Very enjoyable holiday. Bailey Lodge was situated in peaceful, scenic countryside with lovely views of the hills. The lodge was most comfortable to stay in and beautifully designed.

The bus stops are literally outside the lodge on either side of the road. The buses are prompt but do only run hourly in the winter months. We walked down to Barnstaple most days and got a taxi back up the hill. We got buses into Ilfracombe, Lynton and Appledore. We didn't have to use our car at all whilst we were there and as freedom pass holders Read morethis was a bonus. It's a bit of a walk downhill so could be problematic if you aren't fit and healthy. Perhaps more work to tidy up bit of land in front of Bailey Lodge, either more grass or more attractive shrubs.

Bailey Lodge is beautifully equipped, excellent bedding and mattresses, especially the cotton in twin room. Everything we could want was provided and particularly grateful for non-slip shower mat. We highly recommend this lodge for a short stay (we did 4 nights) but I'd also love a fortnight of the peace and quiet. Perfect
