A beautiful barn conversion set in peaceful countryside on a working farm offers a charming hideaway for two guests. Just 4 miles from shops and restaurants in the cathedral city of Exeter, it is within easy reach of glorious Dartmoor, pretty villages and golden South Devon beaches. The single-storey retreat has great character, with a host of original features, including beams, stone walls and an airy vaulted ceiling.

This spacious property is beautifully furnished and thoughtfully designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the open-plan lounge/diner and adjoining bedroom area with light. Stoke the large, double-sided wood burner before relaxing on comfortable seating or at the dining table. Or enjoy the cosy glow from a sumptuous super-king-size bed at the far end of the room. There’s a separate, spacious kitchen and a useful boot room, with a double sink and an adjacent shower room. Outside, a shared courtyard space with planting has garden furniture and a BBQ, ideal for outdoor dining.

Attractions in Exeter range from the city’s historic cathedral and fine museum to atmospheric tours of medieval underground passages beneath the streets. Take a boat trip from the bustling quayside alongside the River Exe, where you can also find independent shops and restaurants. Enjoy a day out in picturesque Chagford (13.5 miles), where the beautiful River Teign runs nearby. Visit two splendid National Trust properties: Castle Drogo and Killerton House and Gardens both within 11 miles. Explore Dartmoor (9 miles), on a network of paths across its wild landscape of moors, rivers and ancient stones. Head to the coast for beautiful sandy beaches at Exmouth and Dawlish Waren (both 14 miles).

Beautiful converted barn with all modern conveniences, great bathroom, shower & kitchen. Everything is provided. The highlight was the woodburner that can be watched from either the living room or bedroom as it is glass doors both sides . Very comfortable bed , really warm & cosy Very pleasant stay & accessible to Exeter or local seaside.

This cottage is well worth a visit, is well appointed and within easy reach of various places of interest. The owners are very pleasant and helpful.

The accommodation was very good. The furnishings were modern stylish and comfortable. The welcome pack was a kind thought and much appreciated. The location was quiet and peaceful with beautiful countryside.

The Bothy is a delightful property with lots of character. The cottage was clean and very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed the peaceful rural setting. This is a great location to discover many lovely places, its easy to get around. We had a great time and would recommend this cottage, we hope to return.

The Bothy is a lovely converted farm building, with lots of space and all necessary equipment. It is beautifully furnished and laid out. Underfloor heating keeps it cosy and warm. We had a wonderful weeks stay at The Bothy in Holcombe Burnell, it was very comfortable and warm. The hosts were great and we didnt want for anything. We have passed our comments onto them privately for ideas on what would make the perfect stay. All in all a fabulous week away.

Lovely cottage for couple, very quiet location but close to main roads which means easy to get out and about for visiting different places. Fully equipped for cooking. Nice welcome pack. Would definitely recommend to friends. Everything you need for a relaxing break away.

A lovely converted barn in a peaceful location. It is very well equipped with everything you might need but there are no pubs, restaurants or facilities within walking distance so a car is essential.
