Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life at this dreamy thatched, period cottage in the idyllic village of Malborough. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms, this is the oldest cottage in the village, and it's the perfect place for small families or groups of friends to relax in style while they enjoy an unforgettable getaway in Devon together. During the day, head to Salcombe Harbour to explore its bustling waterfront and gaze upon the colourful fishing boats and yachts in the bay. In the evening, come home to enjoy a fantastic al fresco dinner on the cottage's wonderful private patio.

From the moment you step through the entrance door, you'll be struck by this gorgeous cottage's open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area, which boasts beautiful period beams, white-washed cobbled walls, and a charming wood burner. The styling is delightfully quirky and refreshingly cheerful. Slip onto the sofa and make yourself at home before heading to the contemporary-style kitchen area to cook up some dinner. Gather everyone together to eat at the bar-style dining table, or head out onto the private detached patio garden (just a short stroll from the back door and perched up a few steps) to enjoy a memorable al fresco meal. After dinner, warm your toes by the wood burner in the living area while you watch your favourite TV show. At the end of the day, head upstairs and you'll find two cosy bedrooms: one twin (which can be made into a super-king-size upon request) and one spacious king-size bedroom. A compact family bathroom with a shower over the bath on the ground floor completes the layout.

Pack up a picnic and head to South Sands Beach (2 miles), where you can enjoy a day of swimming, sunbathing or paddleboarding. Alternatively, venture 2.5 miles to Overbeck's, a beautiful National Trust property overlooking Salcombe Estuary. Explore the Edwardian house and wander through its subtropical gardens while enjoying panoramic views of the coastline.

This is a lovely cottage and a great place to stay for anyone wanting to experience living in a period home. It was quirky, uneven, wonky and wonderfully eccentric. The stairs are steep and low, and the bathroom is downstairs- there is not an upstairs bathroom with the bedrooms. The parking space is pretty narrow too, so if you have accessibilitRead morey needs this might not work for you. However, we made it work and the cottage was well fitted, cosy and comfy. The road noise was OK: location is great.

Response Travel Chapter - Thank you for your feedback, the property's bathroom is located downstairs as per the website details

Lovely thatched property in nice village although location directly out onto fairly busy pass through road was a challenge with a dog, but manageable. Well equipped overall for our stay. Pub less than 1 min walk. Very nice area overall with multiple beaches less than 10mins drive. Would visit again.

Great little cottage, set on a street, but the village is surrounded by fields. Well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, good bathroom, easy parking next door. There is a supermarket and a great farm shop within walking distance. We especially enjoyed Bantham Beach (15 mins drive), the 45-min hike to Hope Cove, and an amazing evening in the garden with tRead morehe recommended cocktail shaker. Ceilings are low and the garden is a few steps away, but neither was an issue. We'd happily recommend it. Hide

Lovely cottage but very damp inside, strong smell of damp and staining up walls. Yes it is a very old cottage but the humidity was high inside. Unfortunately had a bit of a flying ant issue but again a seasonal issue. Some issues with kitchen pots not being checked if cleaned properly. Great location close to salcombe. This is a very quaint cottage in a pleasant location. Local Asda Express shop and service station is handy but nearest supermarkets and other shops in Kingsbridge (4 miles away)are required for major items .Great for dogs(and their owners ) are the local footpaths . TV was exceptionally good once you understand the controls

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the world. We did not use the car this week as the bus service worked and easy walking to Hope Cove and North sands for Salcombe. Lovely breakfast in the Boutique b&b opposite

This is a lovely old cottage - close to Salcombe and lots of lovely beach coves. The whole feel was both cosy and cool. The garden was a little stroll away from the actual cottage but we didnt use it as ours was a rainy stay and we were out so much. Its on a busy road so care was needed when stepping out but overall, absolutely charming. Thank you Read morefor letting us stay in your gorgeous home. Hide
