Savour your morning brew with glorious views across the River Dart and historic Dartmouth from the front terrace of this characterful townhouse. The spacious property sleeps six guests and has many original features, together with some fine antique furniture. For a large family or group of friends planning to explore all that this beautiful corner of South Devon has to offer, this is the perfect base for a great holiday.

A short flight of steps leads to the front door and the hall, with a fine tiled floor. A large bay window floods the lounge with light and looks across rooftops to the river. Enjoy this gorgeous view from the comfort of cosy sofas and an elegant chaise longue. A splendid ornamental fireplace, a pretty chandelier and antique furniture make this a stylish and relaxing place. There is a sleek kitchen, while the impressive dining room houses a large antique table with space for ten guests. Upstairs are a family bathroom and three pretty bedrooms: a king-size with lovely views, plus two doubles. Outside, are terraces to the front and rear.

With coloured houses spilling down to the water and boats bobbing along the river, the harbour town of Dartmouth has a Mediterranean feel and a proud nautical history. Stroll around the winding streets, where you will find cafes, restaurants and shops. Dartmouth Castle (1 mile) still guards the entrance to the river after 600 years and has breathtaking views. From here, drink in more wonderful vistas on a 3.5-mile circular walk along the South West Coast Path to Little Dartmouth, a National Trust nature reserve. Dartmouth has two sheltered, sandy beaches and the estuary is a favourite spot for water sports enthusiasts. Enjoy a boat trip down the river and across to picturesque Kingswear (1 mile).

Cleaning was just acceptable. Double sinks needed a clean. Some equipment in kitchen needed washing before use. The house has so many stairs inside & steep steps outside its not for people with mobility issues. I just about coped.

No 17 is a substantial property, has an ideal location relative to the town and local amenities and the parking space was invaluable. The number of stairs could be a challenge for some but with friendly neighbours and little or no passing traffic it was generally a welcoming, quiet and enjoyable week.

Stunning house, inviting and cosy we found it a really comfortable place. Beds were great, the house was warm with plenty of hot water. We loved the views over Dartmouth, and its so easy to walk into town. Maybe not the place if you cant manage stairs well, lots internally and outside, but we managed fine. Very happy to recommend and would reRead moreturn tomorrow! The photos don't do this place justice at all, its bright and airy and we loved the colour schemes throughout. Hide

Lovely location and spacious house. Let down by poor cleaning and many rusty kitchen knifes and utensils. Shower that does not drain properly in twin room. Reported these issues ion our last stay so surprised the rusty old and tired kitchen utensils have not been replaced or the shower fixed. Such a shame as the location and house are lovely.

This house is perfect for a family. The number of bathrooms / showers is great and the house is comfortable and has everything you could need. The location is perfect. Having a large parking area in Dartmouth is brilliant and to be able to walk into town in a few minutes is great.

Large, spacious and comfortable house situated in a perfect position for a very short stroll into town. Showing signs of age and possibly in need of some modernisation for some people but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Overstocked with every appliance and piece of equipment needed, there is no worry about not finding what you need.
