A quiet Exmoor hamlet is the location for this exquisite couple’s cottage. Pet-friendly, it’s close to the twin coastal villages of Lynton and Lynmouth and has lovely wooded valley walks from the doorstep.
Contemporary cottage styling flows throughout this pretty gable-end property, part of a skilful barn conversion surrounded by lush countryside. Ideal for a couple and their four-pawed plus-one, the open-plan living space here is light and airy, with all the kitchen essentials for a fuss-free stay, a cosy dining space and a comfortable seating area where you can snuggle up in front of the TV or play favourite music through the Bluetooth speaker. On the first floor the peaceful double bedroom has lovely country views and an adjacent bathroom. And when you’re ready for some fresh air and sunshine, there’s a sheltered private garden to the side of the cottage, with outdoor furniture. An external utility room is shared with the two other holiday properties here, which can be booked separately for a bigger-group getaway.
Enjoy country and coastal walks from your doorstep: the cottage is less than a mile from the National Trust-owned Hunters Inn and Heddon Valley, a deep wooded river valley reaching down to the cove at Heddon’s Mouth. The South West Coast Path runs alongside the Atlantic Ocean from here – walk east and you’ll see Woody Bay, Valley of the Rocks, Lynmouth Bay and Foreland Point; in the opposite direction is pretty Combe Martin bay –a 5.5-mile drive from your doorstep. Further afield is the vast sandy beach at Woolacombe (15 miles), a favourite with the surf crowd, while between the two, Ilfracombe (13 miles) is home to many cultural and holiday highlights, including the Damien Hirst statue ‘Verity’ by the harbour, and the quirky Tunnels Beaches.
