Just a mile from Torquay’s iconic seafront, this early Victorian holiday home and adjacent modern mews are ideal for a multi-generational get-together. Built around 1840, the main house has been lovingly restored and combines all the character of its period with contemporary must-haves such as a striking conservatory, cellar games room and five en-suite bedrooms. Adding a touch of luxury are TVs in every bedroom as well as the lounge and dining room, and in the kitchen there’s an Italian CMA Lisa 2 station espresso machine, complete with a coffee grinder and selection of flavoured syrups. Complementing the X-box entertainment on offer in the cellar games room, the dining table can be converted to a pool table. For contrast, the contemporary-styled mews house offers fully independent accommodation with a kitchen/diner, light and airy lounge, two bedrooms – one a king-size, the other with twin beds – a bathroom on each floor, a kitchen/diner and lounge. There’s a paved patio area with furniture for alfresco dining, while between the two properties is a sunny courtyard – with sun shades – that houses a relaxing Hydropool hot tub seats 8/9 people (available from Easter until 1st October only) and modern rattan furniture. An under-cover seasonal outdoor kitchen area comes complete with a charcoal BBQ and wood-fired pizza oven, plus plenty of counter space for food prep. The outdoor area is for dry warm days.
This impressive family property is just 1 mile from Torquay’s thriving town centre and iconic waterfront where there’s a beautiful marina, subtropical gardens and choice of bars, restaurants and entertainments. Explore further afield with a walk along the South West Coast Path; there are stunning headland and countryside views in every direction at this northern end of the English Riviera. Or spend a sunny afternoon on one of the many beaches that stretch around the bay – Hollicombe (2.5 miles) and Paignton beach (4 miles) are great for sand castles, rock pooling and surfing.
