Soak up the sunshine out in the pretty garden at this gorgeous retreat in Beer, East Devon. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom apartment sits across the first and second floors of a late Victorian house in the attractive fishing village. Happy to accommodate a canine companion too, it offers bright, stylish accommodation, as well as its terraced garden, with sea views, where you can all spend quality time together.

Make your way up the external stone steps to enter your delightful abode. At first-floor level, you will find the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which has a wooden floor and light decor that brings a breezy, seaside ambience to the space. Take a few moments in here to find something good to watch on TV later or to play your favourite tunes through the sound bar before you start unpacking your fresh provisions and deciding what to whip up over inthe kitchen space. Sit down to eat inside or choose to open the door on to the patio and carry your plates outside. Follow the stairs up to the floor above to lay your head in either the inviting double bedroom, with en-suite bathroom, or the twin, which has an en-suite shower room. Unwind out in the sunshine and fresh air on the deck or in the shared lawned garden. Keep an eye on children and pets as there are steps out here.

Pack your towels and costumes and amble just 150 metres down to the scenic village beach, which is backed by white chalk cliffs. Venture 1.5 miles into vibrant Seaton to spend time on the long beach there, where you can also try kayaking and paddle boarding. Wander round the shops and dine out while you are here. The holiday overall was good apart from the weather which unfortunately we have no control over. They were having alterations to the shop below which at times was very noisy and parking, because of builders vans, was a bit of a pain. The application of sealant on the ceiling in the shop below came up through our floor and made us quite ill for a tiRead moreme but this was soon rectified and everyone was very apologetic but I would suggest in future to plan renovations a little better. It is a lovely cottage. Well equipped and nice furnishings. Parking quite tricky but we had a big estate car and we managed carefully. It is positioned between two pubs and lovely coffee shop overlooking the sea. We will be back.

Lovely accommodation, beautiful location. Well equipped and clean. Beer is delightful and the coastal walks to Branscombe and Seaton are within easy reach. Parking was fine but you can get a 96 hour parking ticket which allows you to park in any East Devon Council car park. We will be back.

Amazing location and plenty of space for 4 people and 1 dog. However the apartment could have done with a good clean, there was a lot of dust at cobwebs and the upstairs carpet needed a good vacuum ( our dog didn't come upstairs) the kitchen was well equipped, everything we needed.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at The Haven with our little Jack Russell. The accommodation was very homely, with lovely decor and everything you could need. The teabags, biscuits, milk and fudge were also much appreciated! The beds were extremely comfortable and the bed linen and towels of high quality. The resident neighbours were very friendly anRead mored welcoming. The location was perfect, a stone's throw from the beach and the Anchor Inn and Beer itself is very pretty and traditional with half a dozen spots to eat and drink in the main season. We explored the local area, with days out to Sandy Bay, Budleigh Salterton and Lyme Regis, as well as the donkey sanctuary. The tiny village of Branscombe is a must, the most picturesque little village of thatched cottages with a stream, beautiful gardens and of course a village pub! Dogs were welcome everywhere and our little Jack Russell loved it! The only issue as mentioned by others is the difficulty parking due to the nature of the space available but as long as you're careful and have someone guiding you not too much of a problem. We wouldn't hesitate to go back, thank you to the owners for such a lovely experience. Hide

We enjoyed our September stay at the Haven - Heating very efficient! Well equipped and comfortable, two bathrooms a bonus if 4 people are staying. Location in middle of village is superb - short walk to everything but still quiet. Only negatives are not much outside space , and some will find getting in and out of parking space a bit challenging.
