Luxuriate in a romantic getaway to this fairy-tale, thatched cottage in Branscombe, East Devon. Sleeping two guests, plus their faithful, four-legged friend, the exquisite hideaway has a wood burner for cosy nights in together and a small, courtyard garden for soaking up the last of the evening warmth over a glass of fizz. The property is 1.5 miles from the scenic beach and offers magnificent walking opportunities, including along the South West Coast Path.

Let yourselves in through the stable door, then hang your coats and unlace your walking boots. There is a utility room, with WC, and then the enticing, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its wood burner housed in a stone, inglenook fireplace. Read your books in here or find a good film to cuddle up in front of as the wood burner crackles gently. Head over to the stylish kitchen space to make yourselves light snacks or candle-lit dinners, then pull your chairs up to the table. An open-tread staircase leads up to the first floor, where you will find your sumptuous king-size bedroom, with its characterful, sloping ceiling, and a beautifully finished shower room. Sit outside in the courtyard garden on sunny days, with a cup of tea and a freshly baked scone and Devon cream. There is parking for one car.

Head off on long coastal and country walks from the cottage. Follow the South West Coast Path for 2 miles from Branscombe Beach to Beer, where there is another charming place to swim. There are also a few independent shops in this village to potter around. Make your way into Seaton, 5 miles away, for an even broader selection of colourful outlets and eateries. Venture 4 miles from the holiday home to the Iron Age hillfort at Blackbury Camp or 2.5 miles to Beer Quarry Caves.

A very nice little cottage, which is a pleasant place to stay for a week. The building is well kept, with good furnishings and equipment and well organised in every way. Branscombe itself is a lovely area, but you need to drive carefully on the narrow lanes. It is very quiet and peaceful; to hear the local sheep and songbirds early in the morning iRead mores part of the charm. And the owners provide a Scrabble set - much appreciated as we'd forgotten to take ours. Hide

This is a lovely place to stay, the cottage provides comfort and all of the amenities we needed. A small constructive comment is that we found food had been left in the freezer and this needs to be defrosted.

The cottage is located in the beautiful village Branscombe with stunning scenery and walks in the area. The cottage is cosy, comfortable, well equipped and beautifully clean. Bedding could be more comfortable by having cotton top sheet.

Lovely cottage, very comfortable, well equiped, well situated. Low ceilings and door frame upstairs, caution needed for a tall person. Very narrow roads to the village, we found particularly stressful. Wonderful full English breakfast at the Sea Shanty at Branscombe beach. Very peaceful place to sit and chill.

We loved the cottage albeit it rather cramped. There was nowhere to put our provisions we had brought with us, therefore, it took up all the working surfaces. It would have been helpful to have had replacement bin liners if you are staying more than a week, and especially as the bins are collected on a Tuesday. (Such a complicated recycling systeRead morem there and not easily followed). The neighbours were very good and helpful in that respect. Hide

The cottage was lovely and very well equipped with everything you could need. The local pub, although very rustic seved excellent food. The only downside was the narrow, winding roads leading in and out of the village- not for the faint hearted driver or those with a big or expensive car !
