Retreat with your nearest and dearest to this gorgeous, thatched cottage in Branscombe. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom, character-laden abode makes a perfect base for an extended family break in East Devon or for a group of friends wishing to holiday or celebrate a special occasion together. In an excellent location for coastal and country walks, the fairy-tale hideaway, which has glorious valley views, also welcomes four-legged guests.
Wander inside, taking two steps down to the door, to find rooms with gorgeous beams and exposed stonework. Discover a beautiful kitchen/diner where you can take turns at whipping up hearty holiday feats with the tasty local produce you have sourced on your excursions. Dine in here too then amble through to the lounge to play games, watch TV or listen to music. Switch on the wood burner-effect electric fire in the stone inglenook fireplace on chilly evenings. Also downstairs are a bunk bedroom and family shower room. Climb the steep, cottage-style stairs to the first floor to two double bedrooms and one twin. There is also a family bathroom up here. Have morning coffee or even breakfast out on the picnic table on fine days. There is parking at this cottage for three cars.
Set out on country walks from the doorstep. Head 1.5 miles down to Branscombe Beach and the picturesque South West Coast Path. Spend time on the beach at Beer, 3.5 miles away, and Seaton, 4 miles away, too. Head further inland to explore more of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or venture on to the magnificent Blackdown Hills, 10.5 miles away. Make a group trip to the Beer Quarry Caves, 2.5 miles away, where you can explore the network of underground quarries that were the source of stone for many of this country’s cathedrals.
