Located in the chocolate-box village of Sidford, this single-storey annexe sits next to the owner's bungalow. It is surrounded by a quiet lane, offering a peaceful and homely atmosphere for a romantic getaway. When you’re not cosied up inside with a film on the TV, you can be soaking up the sunshine in the courtyard garden while the BBQ sizzles.
The well-equipped kitchen is the ideal place to enjoy your morning coffee, sitting at the breakfast bar. Two steps down take you through to the lounge, with a dining table and chairs for romantic suppers. Relax on the sofa or in the rocking chair, admiring the view of the garden through floor-to-ceiling double doors. The double bedroom has a bow window overlooking the front and a door leading to the large lobby area with clothes storage space. The bathroom has a shower over bath, perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of outdoor activities. Patio doors from the lounge lead outside, where three steps take you down to the rear courtyard. This fenced-off, paved area boasts a BBQ, table and chairs for al fresco dining, and there are glorious countryside views. Guests can also occasionally use the owner’s adjoining lawn garden, accessed through the courtyard gate.
Sidford is just a 2.5-mile drive away from the Regency seaside town of Sidmouth, which sits on the famous Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While away the hours on the golden beach here or stroll the esplanade. Connaught Gardens is a popular destination for a leisurely walk and the town is home to many cafes and tearooms, serving up delicious Devon cream teas. The Byes Riverside Walk (2 miles) also passes through Sidford. This scenic walk is a perfect opportunity to witness the natural beauty of the area, with flower meadows, parklands and fields of green lining the water’s edge. For the more adventurous, there is also the South West Coast Path, which winds its way along the Devon coastline, giving spectacular views of the sea.
