It is surrounded by lush green countryside and offers wonderful walks and miles of cycle track (with cycle hire available locally) along the traffic-free Tarka Trail that runs through the village, around the Taw Estuary and beyond. If you dream of a day at the beach, drive the 3 miles to Saunton Sands which boasts dune-fringed golden sands and great surfing waves. Further afield, the equally popular beaches of Croyde, Woolacombe and Putsborough are all within 8 miles.
