A quirky cottage within 2.5 miles of Saunton Sands, one of the most popular surfing beaches in the whole county. Featuring a characterful lounge, spacious bedrooms and a split-level garden, this dog-friendly cottage is perfect for large activity-led families or groups of friends keen to sample the AONB’s stunning countryside and coastline at their own pace.

Set over three floors with winding stairs (not ideal for people with mobility issues), the cottage showcases many interesting features, including exposed stonework and wooden beams found throughout bright and inviting rooms. You can look forward to curling up in front of the wood burner in the lounge after a long day by the coast or an indulgent meal in the kitchen/diner, which is a haven for foodies keen to experiment with local produce. A utility room nearby is ideal for sorting out mucky pups on two and four legs after a long walk. Steep winding stairs from the kitchen/diner, with a 19th-century ship's mast featured at the centre, lead up to the first floor, home to a king-size bedroom, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. All three have a unique character and all promise a peaceful night’s sleep which can be prepared for in the family bathroom nearby. Another set of stairs leads to the second floor’s en-suite double bedroom, complete with imposing eaves and views across to the Braunton Burrows. The enclosed terraced garden at the rear is split across three levels with steep stairs not ideal for elderly people or small toddlers without adult supervision, which are a blend of shrubs and wildflowers, a small courtyard a decked area with far-reaching views of the North Devon coast

Make Braunton’s shops, restaurants and dog-friendly pubs your second home during your stay, or take a scenic walk through Braunton Burrows or Crow Point (within 4 miles). Water sports lovers can choose between Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe (all within 7 miles), but to see the area from a different perspective, take the South West Coastal Path to Baggy Point or the Tarka Trail to Barnstaple (within 6.5 miles).

The Cottage fitted the brief very well; a family gathering for a wedding at Ash Barton. So we ranged from fourteen months old to grandparents and we all fitted in well and slept well! It was a home from home and didnt feel cramped at all. I was worried about the stairs for the little ones but they just werent a problem. The appliances were all in gRead moreood condition and worked well so that helped to make it a relaxing stay. We used Braunton Taxi for runs to and from the wedding which was over three days and again this worked well. We can also recommend the circular walk from Braunton Burrows car park to Saunton Sands and back along the Tarka Trail. Lunch at the Beachside Grill was a highlight of the walk and repeated several times! Hide

A cosy cottage with everything you'd need - I can imagine that it would be a great place to stay in any season. The sun deck is particularly sunny late afternoon for tea or drinks so we enjoyed that enormously. It also has 3 bathrooms which was very helpful to our group. The walk into the village for shops and restaurants quick and easy as is accesRead mores to the coast path. Parking was not a problem. The owner very kindly found and sent back to me some earrings i'd left behind. Hide

A characterful house with nice decor, pictures and detail giving it a seaside feel. Great top deck for evening sun. In the attractive older part of the village with footpaths out to the countryside hills with great views.

Great location in an old part of town. You can't park near to the house but we could easily 5 minutes walk away. Kitchen has everything you need. Beds extremely comfortable, we all slept well.

The house was lovely and the location was great. We enjoyed our stay. However, when we arrived the fridge was switched off and smelt absolutely foul and we had to wash the whole fridge. The same for the washing machine - it smelt really awful so we ran it empty. The washing machine didnt clean well and we had to hand wash most things again afterwarRead moreds. Id be very grateful if we could have the cleaning fees refunded. The only other thing was that it might be useful to have a little warning on the website that the house is not appropriate for people with mobility issues, as we had my 90 year old grandpa with us and he struggled a lot with the stairs. Many thanks. Hide

The property was very nice - just a few thoughts. On the plus side, we had a lovely stay and enjoyed our time in the property. So the comments below are not intended to suggest that we didn't enjoy ourselves. All but one of the beds was very comfortable and the showers were good. Very handy to have a ground floor bathroom with shower. But, it was vRead moreery hard to find as sat nav took you to the wrong place. Also, there are no photographs of the front of the property on the website. Not only did this make it hard to find but also obscured the fact that the property is directly on the road so quite noisy at times. There weren't enough kitchen chairs for all of the occupants to sit at the kitchen table nor really enough space in the living room for all 7 of us to sit comfortably. No shampoo in the bathrooms. There were DVDs but no DVD player. Could use a few more bowls in the kitchen. There was a lot of noise heard through the wall of the adjoining property which made it difficult for some of us to sleep. We had brought a jigsaw puzzle with us but there was nowhere to place it. The house needs some work, the kitchen is very dated with a loose plinth on the dishwasher and stains in the cupboards. The showers have curtains rather than screens, these restrict space in the shower as they cling to you when the shower is running. They are also less clean than screens. I appreciate that the house is good value for a four bed proRead moreperty and it is generally comfortable. With a bit of work this could be an incredible house. Hide
