Property code: OC-N1990

Peacefully situated on a traditional sheep farm, just a short walk from the centre of the Exmoor village of Bratton Fleming, this beautiful barn has been carefully converted to retain much of the original character. The surrounding countryside is breathtakingly beautiful, and the barn offers a spacious and comfortable base to explore Exmoor and the magnificent coastline in this special part of Devon.

Inside, original features such as feature stone walls, attractive arched doors and exposed beams add much character to this rural bolthole. The good-sized, beamed, open-plan living room has a feature fireplace with a wood burner which, together with central heating, provides year-round warmth. An attractive arched doorway from the living room gives access to the shared, fully enclosed rear garden area. All you could need to cater for friends and family can be found in the modern kitchen that has plenty of room for dining too. On the first floor, there is a spacious double bedroom with an attractive apex ceiling, and a twin bedroom with sloping ceilings and Velux windows – each room has wonderful views across the Exmoor countryside. Outside, shared garden areas surround the property with plenty of space for relaxation and al fresco dining.

The owner welcomes guests to roam the farmlands to take advantage of the rural tranquillity that is a haven for wildlife, including the famous Exmoor deer. The nearby village of Bratton Fleming, with its small general store, is 0.5 miles away, and delightful walks along local footpaths and bridleways are all close by, including the Millennium Green which offers circular woodland walks, an enclosed children’s play area and an assault course. The market town of Barnstaple, with its pannier market, shops, pubs and restaurants, is just 8 miles away, and the picturesque sandy coves around Combe Martin and dramatic Exmoor coastline are within a scenic 10-mile journey.

We have just had a really lovely two weeks at Button Barn, situated in a tranquil rural setting where the views down the valley are amazing from sunrise to sunset. The accommodation is very clean, roomy and comfortable, especially the beds, and has all the basics you need in a holiday home. You have to be careful of the odd placed steps in doorwaysRead more but they add to the character of the barn conversion. We were very lucky with the weather (for May) and alfresco dining was a real bonus. You need a car but Button Barn is ideally placed for days out to visit all the attractions and the whole of the North Devon Coast. Hide

The property location was idyllic with spectacular views. You would definitely need a car to get around and my elderly mother found the stairs a challenge but manageable. It was beautifully renovated in keeping with a cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay at Button Barn. It was a really quiet spot with a nice garden area to enjoy. The accommodation was fairly basic but clean and worked for us. Most of the baby equipment we needed was already there meaning we didn't have to take it all with us. The bedrooms were a good size and had good storage too. The bathroom was a littlRead moree small for us but wasn't a problem for the couple of weeks we were there. It was nice to mix with our neighbours too who were close by. We had a really nice family holiday. Hide

The cottage was in a beautiful setting and was quiet and peaceful. It was very clean, spacious and was well kitted out. The host was around to answer any questions. There is quite a steep hill just outside the cottage to get to the village-so elderly walkers need to take this into consideration.
