This coastal bolthole is in the picturesque fishing village of Appledore, on the North Devon coast. The property sleeps four guests and is perfect for couples and small families looking to rest and recharge in beautiful surroundings. You’ll be near some spectacular beaches, including Westward Ho! (3 miles), and can enjoy day trips to the market town of Bideford, the picturesque cliffside village of Clovelly, and the rugged heritage coast around Hartland (all within 15 miles).
The 18th-century former fisherman’s cottage has been lovingly renovated, carefully combining traditional features with contemporary design. An eclectic mix of furniture and accessories creates a homely vibe throughout. The lounge, with a roaring wood burner, looks out onto the street and offers a cosy sanctuary in which to read a book or watch the Smart TV. A step leads from here to the cottage-style kitchen/diner, where you can whip up a tasty supper to enjoy around the oak dining table. A handy utility room is located off the kitchen. Upstairs, discover a pretty double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and an inviting twin. A family bathroom completes the accommodation. Steps lead from the kitchen to the enclosed, split-level cottage garden, which has two patios for al fresco dining and is surrounded by beautiful shrubs and flowers.
Wander out of your front door and into the heart of the village, where you’ll find a cute collection of cafes, boutiques, and galleries. The village also boasts some excellent pubs and restaurants, many of which offer relaxing views across the water. There are some stunning walks branching away from the village, including to Westward Ho!, with its 2-mile stretch of golden sand. Alternatively, hop on the seasonal foot ferry across to Instow, for a picnic on the beach or a riverside stroll along the Tarka Trail.
