This rural retreat is located on a working farm, in the heart of Exmoor National Park. Sleeping six guests, it’s the perfect hideaway for those wishing to switch off and recharge. Keen walkers will be in their element, with routes branching off in all directions, including to the picturesque Tarr Steps (0.5 miles). After a long walk, snuggle up by the roaring wood burner or dine alfresco on the lawn.
Steps take you from the parking area to the garden, and a path leads you to the front door. The semi-detached bungalow has a home-away-from-home feel, with pretty, soft furnishings and accessories. Enter into the hallway, where you can store your outdoor gear, and into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Here, you’ll find sumptuous sofas to sink into alongside a cosy wood burner and beautiful rural views. Cook up a storm in the farmhouse-style kitchen and gather around the wooden table for memorable mealtimes together. There are four inviting bedrooms: a king-size, a double with an en-suite shower room, and two singles. A family bathroom completes the property. To the front of the cottage is a partially enclosed lawn, with furniture for al fresco dining. Guests also have access to the shared grounds, including a beautiful lake (please note the lake is unfenced and children must be supervised at all times).
A 5-mile countryside walk brings you to the quaint market town of Dulverton, on the banks of the River Barle. Explore the town’s pretty cottages and picturesque streets, before dining in one of the cosy pubs or tearooms. Step back in time with a trip to the medieval village of Dunster (12.5 miles). The village is a paradise for photographers, with its plethora of listed buildings and an impressive castle. Further afield, the seaside resort of Minehead is just over 15 miles away.
