Alpha cottage is the perfect place to stay for couples, families, walkers, photographers and artists. It is also a great location to kayak and paddleboard.

Located in the lovely village of Dittisham and just upstream from the popular South Devon town of Dartmouth, sits this stunning cottage which has been lovingly restored to provide a fantastic base for four guests. With beautiful, traditional features such as beams and exposed stone walls as well as a warming wood burner, this is an ideal home to return to at the end of a busy day.

Stepping inside this lovely cottage, you’ll find yourself in a lounge that’s brimming with character from the exposed timber and brickwork, through to the welcoming wood burner and surrounding comfortable seating where you can curl up at the end of the day. Next to this is the bright kitchen/diner with its high ceiling and bright pops of colour making this a great space to gather for a meal. From the lounge, a steep cottage-style staircase takes you to the two pretty bedrooms. The king-size room has the same gorgeous, exposed brick as well as wood burner-effect fire and a stylish en-suite shower room, whilst the second bedroom is a cute twin and there’s also a further separate shower room. Outside, there is a gravelled seating area with outdoor furniture and a further elevated seating area.

Dittisham provides a beautiful riverside location and is surrounded by Devon countryside, making it a perfect spot for a holiday. There are plenty of places to picnic and you can head to the pontoon if you fancy trying your hand at a spot of crabbing. Otherwise, you can head 6 miles to Dartmouth with its picturesque harbour, heritage railway or you can take a boat trip on the River Dart. Other great locations within easy reach include Paignton (14 miles) where you can visit the zoo or Quaywest water park or why not take a trip to the beautiful Blackpool Sands – an unspoilt sheltered bay just 7 miles away.

In the months of May through to November why not attend one of the many local events and festivals in the area like the Dartmouth Music Festival, Dartmouth Royal Regatta, Dartmouth Food Festival, Torbay Air Show, Brixham Pirate Festival, Devon County Show.

Delightful small cottage in beautiful setting close to some of Devons best rivers and beaches. Stairs require good mobility!

The property is in an idyllic setting and the photographs on your website of the interior make it look lovely. In reality i felt that the cottage, its furnishings and the patio area are quite shabby. In terms of cleanliness, on arrival, my first measure is always the state of the washing up bowl. Unfortunately it was not clean and the dishcloths, Read morealthough dry looked used. The kitchen is well equipped, however the oven gloves had a split along the seam which my husband didnt see and he subsequently burnt his fingers using them. They need to be replaced. The furnishings in the sitting room are quite shabby. The bed in the main bedroom was comfortable and the bed linen fresh. However the floorboards around the bed were extremely noisy. I think that they had been lifted and not re laid properly. The bathrooms were ok but the shower tray in the smaller bathroom took ages to drain so you ended up standing in water whilst showering. All of the mats in the property look like they need cleaning. The seating area in the garden was nice but the rest of the garden was shabby and not pretty to look at. It would benefit from a tidy up. We had a lovely holiday but I would be unlikely to book with you again or recommend you on the basis of these points which I feel should have been picked up on inspection. Hide

The cottage itself was lovely, clean and well equipped. However, the staircase is challenging even for a fit abled bodied person and the double bed mattress was not at all comfortable. The location was also a little limiting because of the steepness of the lane. It would be a perfect retreat for someone who is not phased by the stairs and who enjoyRead mores peace and quiet. Hide

We have had a very enjoyable time in the cottage. It has been a privilege to stay in a cottage that has been sympathetically restored. We have caught a lot of crabs and the children loved going on the little ferry and seeing the seals. The FBI is a fantastic pub, the red lion is a little stranger. Manny happy memories made. - The Swithinbanks
