Pack your puppies and grab your partner, then head off to this former fishing cottage in north Devon. This cosy property is perfect for anyone who wants straightforward accommodation in an incredible location. You’ll be able to explore the charming Appledore and venture along the beautiful coastline.
The ground floor of this property is a single room, which combines a lounge and kitchenette and has a fold-out table for your meals. Turn on the electric fire for a cosy evening curled up watching your favourite films or cuddle up with your partner and chat. Head upstairs to find the bedroom, king-size and honouring the building’s past with exposed stone and wooden beams. To one side you’ll find a shower room. Please be aware that this property doesn’t have its own garden, but you can use the shared courtyard for people watching, morning sunshine or a little sketching.
You’ll be staying in the village of Appledore, which follows the mouth of River Torridge. There’s a quay 500 metres from the property, and Greysands Beach 2 miles in the other direction. If you follow the beach around, you’ll get to Westward Ho!! Beach, (2.5 miles), a nice spot for surfing. Alternatively, turn inland and explore Northam Burrows Country Park (2.5 miles), a Site of Special Scientific Interest with beautiful views. Appledore also has Skern Lodge (0.5 miles), an activity centre where you can try archery, surfing, climbing and high ropes. Finish your holiday with a day at Woolacombe (17 miles), a charming coastal town where you can climb to Morte Point (19 miles) to see wild seals.
