You’ll be staying in the centre of Devon, surrounded by beautiful countryside and fascinating history. The Stone Lane Gardens, 4.5 miles away, are well worth a visit, and you’ll see sculptures and rare plants. Further along there’s Castle Drogo, 6.5 miles, a mock medieval castle with extensive grounds, situated on an ancient gorge. If you’d like a day on the coast, try Dawlish (26.5 miles), a bustling seaside town with a main beach and a few quieter spots, plus pubs and fish and chip shops.
