This stunning property, situated in the pretty village of Branscombe just 1.5 miles from the beach, is perfect for an active holiday in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sleeping four adults over two peaceful double bedrooms and four children in a charming bunk bedroom with seaside decor, this gorgeous 18th-century thatched cottage is ideal for two families coming together for an exciting break. Bring the dogs with you and go for walkies along the beach or take a ride on the Seaton Tramway (6.5 miles), or simply soak up the sun in the spacious garden, drinking and dining alfresco.

As soon as you step inside you’ll be impressed by the blend of original features and contemporary styling. Exposed beams and a brick ornamental fireplace in the kitchen diner look fantastic among white walls and neutral tiles, while the electric Aga oven and wooden worktops and dining table offer a superb farmhouse look. Get cosy in the sitting room, lighting the wood burner and curling up on the eclectic mix of sofas and chairs, or catch up on some work or read a book at the table. Store your muddy walking boots in the boot room, with a separate WC close by. Upstairs, peaceful pastel tones, exposed beams and vintage-style furniture in the double bedrooms encourage a great night’s sleep, while kids will love the fantastic beach hut-style bunk bedroom. Traditional fixtures in the bathroom offer a touch of class; take an invigorating shower or a relaxing bath before bed. Travel cot & High chair available (please request at the time of booking, extra fee's apply).

Children will delight in the Donkey Sanctuary (2.5 miles) or Crealy Adventure Park (13 miles); Beer Quarry Caves (2 miles) is a great option too. Cottage great, parking arrangements are diabolical. On-street layby is only good for a very small car and road has constrant lorry traffic, including 4 x daily bus service. Tried to buy parking from nearby farmer & pub, no luck. Good Village Hall parking 15 minute walk downhill.

Before we arrived I was confused by the reviews of this property - people seemed to either love it, or be disappointed. Having stayed there, I can honestly say that we all loved it, but our first impression was disappointing, so maybe this explains it. The cottage has been decorated to a high standard and was very clean. The instructions for heaRead moreting and using the Aga needed to be updated, but once we had done a lot of Googling everything worked perfectly and we were toasty. Nothing was left to make the fire, but we found everything we needed just outside Seaton in the garage there. And just in case other people are as clueless as we were, eventually we found the fridge in two of the drawers! Some of the decor is 'shabby chic', and the sofa is very low to the ground, but we absolutely loved our stay, and found the cottage completely charming. Hide

Lovely location. Heating did not work and was not fixed even though asked about on numerous occasions. Elderly parents had to leave early due to cold. Guide in the booklet has instructions about the electric aga but they are for a different model. Such a shame.

A very traditional cosy little cottage, spent 3 nights there, with 4 kids and 3 other adults, had a good time.

I stayed at Pitt Cottage with a group of friends and we had the most wonderful time. Its a super cute cottage and very well equipped. The small touches like milk, biscuits and fudge on arrival were hugely appreciated. The cottage is spacious and the bedrooms are very comfortable. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

While beds were comfortable and clean, the remaining furniture was shabby to say the least. I understand its a very old cottage but couldnt get the heating to work in the evening and very damp, downstairs toilet very smelly and some of the equipment not up to standard

Central heating did not work until our third day, large sofa very low to ground and difficult to get up from if you are old. Aga was good, garden good, upstairs good.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The cottage was perfect and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. Location was fantastic, so close to the beach and quiet and peaceful around. I honestly could not rate this high enough, we had the best weekend in Pitts cottage

Lovely traditional compact cottage with a beautifully designed interior. Very clean, lots of hot water, warm. Not suitable for anyone with slight mobility/balance issues due to steep staircase and slanted upstairs floor, also uneven stone steps up from road. But charming if you are fine with that. Secure garden for dog. The parking arrangements as Read moredescribed, and driving around here generally, is challenging for the nervous driver but par for the course around here. Great walks all around, can walk to Branksome Beach in around 40 mins - easier than driving!! Hide

What an absolute gem! Set in the most idyllic village on a quiet road with the sound of nothing but nature all around, I was blown away with the pure charm and character this little cottage had to offer. From the moment I opened the pretty garden gate and walked up to the thatched porch I was in awe of its beauty. I am not sure what the age of thRead moree cottage is but it really is a special place, with low beamed ceilings, a large but cosy inglenook fireplace and wobbly floors upstairs, it is the most charming place I have ever stayed. I felt I was in a Jane Austen novel all weekend :) Just LOVED IT! Branscombe is a wonderful village with lots of lovely walks right on the doorstep so it's perfect for you and your furry friend. The cottage has been thoughtfully designed and decorated with beautiful artworks and charming vintage pieces in every room. It is a wonderful relaxing place to be with every comfort provided. After long days out walking and exploring, it was a real joy to indulge in a hot bath and cosy up in front of the log burner with a good book. I cannot wait to return! Hide

We loved the cottage. The loaction is wonderful. Other guests have mentioned the parking being a couple of hundred yards away, but that wasnl;t a problem for us - and it was easy to park two cars there. Some great walks from the cottage. A lovely holiday cottage without a doubt but things like no rinse aid and salt provided for the dishwasher is a false economy. A teapot would have been nice and a few basics in the food cupboard. - salt, pepper, oil etc. Overall a lovely place to stay but for very little extra cost these extra things would be much appreciated.

Just had a lovely week at Pitt Cottage, perfect location to explore the area and relax. The two nearby pubs are excellent, the Sunday roast in the Fountain was one of the best I've had. The Masons is a lot more upmarket and the food and beer was superb but they are very different pubs! It's a great spot for walkers with footpaths starting practicaRead morelly outside your door. You don't have to go far for some beautiful views of the countryside. The cottage was pretty well fitted out, some essential cookware was missing and some of it was very tired. The downstairs bathroom was incredibly small and I'd imagine those on the larger side would struggle to get in. The sliding door was stuck but I quite liked the loo with a view! The beams are incredibly LOW, anyone over 5' 8" will hit their head during the week, possibly seven times. As mentioned before it's a bit skimpy on loo roll and dishwasher tablets, no replacement bin bags or washing powder. The parking (described as ample and down the lane) is not great. It's on the main road through Branscombe and it's tight. I expected to find my car scraped every morning but thankfully it wasn't. Overall we had a very relaxing time, visited some lovely places and thoroughly enjoyed our week. Hide

A lovely old cottage in a beautiful area. We were lucky with the weather and the enclosed, sheltered garden was a very pleasant place in which to enjoy in the afternoon sun - for us and the dog. The bedrooms are on the small side, but our bed was very comfortable. Note the stairs are steep, the ceilings and beams low, and the landing is uneven - buRead moret these all add to the charm. The only drawback was the parking, which is by the side of the road, away from the cottage - don't come in a very large vehicle! Hide
