Some of North Devon’s most scenic beaches await within reach of this marvellous country cottage, an abode that’s located between Barnstaple (3 miles) and Instow (4 miles). Offering all kinds of adventures from coastal walks to nature reserve bike rides and excursions on the water, you’ll never fall short of things to do when staying here. The property enjoys an excellent vantage point with waterside views out over the River Taw from its first-floor bedroom, a great place to stay as a pair on a romance-seeking retreat. It’s also dog friendly with a generous garden, ideal for canine-loving couples to fill their days with unforgettable North Devon dog walks.

Contemporary stylings meet creature comforts in this home-from-home property that’s set out over two floors. Leave coats and boots on the porch before settling down in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Exposed beams overhead and a wood burner in the corner add a cosy cottage ambience to this room, best enjoyed when cooking up delicious dishes in the kitchen, dining at the table or curling up in front of the Smart TV. When the weather is agreeable, prepare to step outside to make use of the garden with outdoor seating and a wood-fired hot tub. Take a dip before returning inside to relax in the super-king-size bedroom on a mezzanine floor above the lounge.

Separated by the River Torridge, the neighbouring villages of Instow and Appledore (5 miles on foot, 9 miles by car) are well worth a visit with the passenger ferry allowing access between one another during the summer season. Beyond Appledore is the ever-popular destination of Westward Ho! (9 miles), a tourist-centred village with an exceptional beach backed by a vibrant country park. Keen golfers will love visiting The Royal North Devon Golf Club (8.5 miles) and teeing off right there.

An excellently appointed cottage with sweeping views of the Devon countryside. The hot tub was a lovely luxury bonus and the car charger was efficient and fairly priced. Cheryl is a really friendly host. We will certainly return.

We had one of the best holidays enjoying the Devonshire countryside, our cottage was outstanding. Beautiful place garden is very spacious and secure for dogs, our little dachshunds loved every minute of it, will definitely be returning again, location very central to walks towns beaches national trust etc but still situated in the countryside, hot Read moretub very nice and relaxing after miles of walking. Our Hostess was fabulous, couldnt do enough to help us. Looking forward to visiting again Hide
