Dating from the 17th century, this two-storey cottage has been lovingly renovated to combine period features with a chic, contemporary style. The heart of this delightful abode is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This sociable space has a modern, country-style kitchen with a central table doubling as a breakfast bar. The inviting lounge has a long sofa, cosy throws and deep rugs, next to a warming wood burner, while a window seat doubles up as a bench dining table. Cottage-style stairs lead up to the first floor, which comprises a chic king-size bedroom with an ornamental fireplace, a cosy twin room, and an elegant bathroom with panelling and a freestanding bathtub. Outside, the enclosed garden is mostly laid to shingle with outdoor furniture providing a lovely spot for a morning cuppa or evening tipple.

Head outside with the kids to play in the children’s playground opposite or wander around the village to sample the local pubs. Dartmoor National Park begins just 6 miles away, promising expansive moors, inviting trails and superb wildlife-watching opportunities. It’s an easy hop to the coast too, whether you want to laze on glorious Blackpool Sands (17.5 miles), or venture to the popular harbour towns of Torquay (10 miles), Paignton (9 miles) or Brixham (12 miles).
