There is great potential in this property. It is close to the beach and has four large bedrooms but it seems as though there has been very little spent on its upkeep since 2014. We won't return to this property, and I would advise anyone looking to keep looking. There are better options for the price. The issue we encountered are the same as tRead morehose reported by other guests. There were problems with several windows being difficult to open or not shutting. The ensuite bathroom extractor fan didn't work, there was damage to the tiles and there was a leak in the kitchen from the ensuite. The sofa's and upstairs bedroom headboard all had stains on them. The pictures of the garden do not reflect its current state. Whilst the lawn is cut, the garden beds are overgrown and there are brambles, the seating area can't be used as the pergola is broken and the shrubs make it difficult to access. The conservatory ceiling and items in it have black mould and the flooring edge is damaged in several places. The 2 TVs are also old with limited channels. Hide

The Dunes is in an ideal position halfway between the beach and the village, but it is a bit run down. It is comfortable for 5 or 6 but I think 8 would be a squeeze around either table, and there are not quite enough comfy seats in the living room either. On the plus side there were enough mugs for about 20, they left plenty of loo roll, dishwasherRead more tablets and a few goodies. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped. If you (like us) travel with dogs, note that the garden is not secure due to fence damage, and if you are viewing this on Canine Cottages where it states that 'dogs are as welcome as people', well they're not actually, they are not allowed in bedrooms or on settees. This house was OK out of season at the off peak price, and did what we needed, but we didn't fall in love with it. Croyde itself was lovely in March, with nice pubs and places to eat and drink and lovely walks to the beach around back lanes. Not sure it would be as nice in August though! Hide

Dunes is well located for local amenities, walks and beach. Cosy feel to the property although few issues namely the property smelt of damp even after airing. A few lights not working along with extractor fans in the bathrooms. Cooker controls were all worn away so cooking was fun! We had a second wonderful stay at the Dunes. The house is in a great location, walking distance to the village and the beach but nice and quiet. We stayed at new year when the weather was very cold but the house was lovely and warm. Overall the house is really well equipped with lots of space. Yet again we had a wonderful holiday despite the weather. Plenty to do, comfortable accommodation and our dogs (3 vizslas) had plenty of space and a secure garden. A bonus was we could easily walk from the house to Croyde beach.

Beds were uncomfortable. Twin beds being in the biggest room didnt make any sense. Hot water cut out so we couldnt shower and couldnt bathe the baby when we needed to. Barbecue was balanced on rotten legs which collapsed the moment we tried to move it for use, massive safety hazard considering its weight. Cracks in the ceiling where you can see somRead moree damp, bugs creeping in the cracks in the bathrooms as well as a leaky shower head constantly dripping, freezer drawer broken and keeps falling out of the freezer as you try and close it, also no hammock in the garden. Advise bringing everything you need including dishwasher tablets and bin bags as they dont provide you with much at all. I know its self catering, but some basic essentials being provided would help encourage people coming back. On a positive note, the garden looks very nice and is really enclosed, rooms are very big and a bedroom on the ground floor was a big positive for our gran who struggles a bit with stairs. I guess you get what you paid for, doesnt feel like much effort is made into encouraging people to come back, instructions havent been updated in over a year and its written in pen/pencil in the book with updates. Basic details like this lead me to believe the owners are just milking what they can from the property before getting rid of it. Other places in the area which look nicer which Id recommend looking at over this. Overall, I wont be coming back to this place. Hide

The house was spacious (we havev4 large dogs), clean and well equipped plus the garden was dog-proof! We had a terrific holiday and again have booked for a return break in the Autumn while we were there. We had a wonderful holiday with our daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and dogs and are already looking forward to October. Thank you.

The house is spacious and in a good location for the beach and village, but sadly both the house and garden felt generally neglected with numerous maintenance issues. Towels and bedding were good quality. Certainly not a four star property and we would not return.

A light, spacious and warm house. We had 4 large dogs with us and the garden was large enough and dog-proof. It was a 10 minute walk to the beach which was really handy. We enjoyed our stay so much we had booked a return visit whilst still there on holiday. We've had a really enjoyable holiday.

House is in a great location, with a reasonable walk to both the beach and the village centre. Own parking is a significant benefit. Our stay was towards the end of season, so there were a few minor maintenance issues.
