Surrounded by idyllic countryside in the heart of rural Devon, escape the hustle and bustle of daily life with a stay at this charming cottage. Set in a small complex of three holiday cottages on the owner’s working farm, this two-bedroom abode welcomes couples, small families and groups of friends – including your four-pawed companions! Ideally located between the Cornish coast and Dartmoor National Park, fill your days with seaside strolls and moorland hikes before returning here to sip a cuppa on the decking, gazing across the open countryside.

Arranged over two storeys, this semi-detached cottage has a smart, modern aesthetic with calming colours and plenty of cosy touches. With a subtle seaside theme, the light-filled lounge invites relaxation after a day of exploring, with patio doors leading outside. The modern, country-style kitchen has all the essentials for cooking up a storm before gathering around the dining table to share food and laughter. Head upstairs for a blissful night’s sleep in one of two spacious bedrooms set beneath the eaves. Choose between a king-size and a twin room, both with en-suites. Private, enclosed decking surrounds the property with a picnic table, a BBQ, a bistro table and chairs, and two lounge chairs for soaking up the sun or stargazing into the night. Guests also have access to a shared games barn along with a paddock for exercising dogs.

Wake up to the sound of birdsong as you pull on your walking boots and set out to explore. There’s a range of walks from the property, while Cockworthy Forest is just 4 miles away. The market town of Okehampton (13 miles) is a gateway to Dartmoor National Park, and this thriving town is a haven for foodies with a weekly market and an assortment of independent shops and eateries. Alternatively venture to the coast, with Bude’s glorious beaches 18 miles west.

The cottage was warm & cosy and very well equipped. And the welcome cream tea was very tasty, the fruit scones were delicious! Lovely area and a trip to Bude is highly recommended. Bill & Caroline were friendly and chatty when we meet them out in the lane.

Little Wagtail was a wonderful place to spend our week's holiday this year. Humans and dogs were extremely well catered for with everything provided we could need. The beds were very comfortable, I've not slept that well for a long time - oh, and the pressure in the shower was excellent too! Often holiday home pictures give an enhanced impressioRead moren, not this time - Little Wagtail was at least as excellent as the photographs suggested it would be. Well situated for days out to Bude, Tintagel, Saunton Sands and Tavistock provided humans and dogs alike with fun outings. Definitely the best holiday home that we've stayed at so far. Thoroughly recommended. Hide

Excellent accommodation . We were very happy with this cottage. Wagtail had everything we needed. Cleanliness was excellent, the beds were very comfortable and the owners had thought of everything. Kitchen was well equipped, there were games and books, a BBQ and outdoor furniture. The property is in a lovely, very quiet rural area accessed by Read moreshort drive down a lane but was very easy to find. We and our dog were made very welcome by the owners who live next door. Wonderful week at "Little Wagtail". Delightful property in quiet location ideal as our base to explore north Devon. Hosts could not have been nicer or more helpful. Bed too comfy. Devon had to wait on more than one morning!
