Summer Haze Cottage is simply the best! This was our second visit to Gemmas peaceful getaway. Gemma is just wonderful, she cant do enough for you, from the best welcome pack weve ever had and throughout the stay, Gemmas attention to detail is second to none. We took our 2 greyhounds and they had an absolute blast in the wonderful garden. TheresRead more plenty of seating areas in the garden and its enclosed. Just sitting out there, taking in the birdsong is what we love, a complete break away from our bonkers lives. Its not good for people with mobility or balance challenges-my parents struggled on the gravel drive and then the different steps up to the garden and into the cottage. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs and you need to go up windy stairs to get there, although we used the downstairs bedroom. The weather was mixed mixed but that didnt stop us from getting out and about to Woolacombe, Croyde, Mortehoe, Lynton and Lynmouth, Coombe Martin etc. Hide

The cottage was lovely and in a great area and we had a great time the owner was welcoming but not overbearing lived next door but you wouldnt know. The only issue we had was no control over the radiators as it is controlled through the owners house which made it cold in the mornings but there is a log fire. Overall a great stay and would recommendRead more. Hide

A lovely cottage in a fantastic rural location. Peace and quiet 10/10, but only a short drive to ilfracombe and woolacombe or can easily walk down to Lee bay. Gemma the owner was marvellous and couldnt do enough for us, our kids or the in-laws. Would thoroughly recommend and visit again.

Our stay at Summer Haze Cottage was absolutely amazing. There were 2 of us and 2 greyhounds and this was perfect for us. My parents and cousin stopped in Woolacombe but they came and visited us for BBQs and tea and they too were bowled over by the cottage. The cottage is rustic and beautiful and suited our needs perfectly. We werent able to keep Read morethe fire going for long but this was entertainment for our family as we jostled about how we should do it. The weather was gorgeous although it did get cooler at night and we used the oil burner in the lounge when needed which was great. The garden is great, perfect for our needs (and the dogs) and has a number of seating and relaxing areas . We only used the downstairs bedroom and utilised the upstairs bedrooms for storing our clothes etc. Gemma is the perfect host, she spent time chatting to us about the history of the cottage; proudly saying how her father had restored it over 30 years. There was a welcome pack and we devoured the contents throughout the week-wonderful personal touch, thank you. Gemma spoke to my hubby about walks that he could do within the immediate area and suggestions were made to us about where to visit that were dog friendly and might appeal to us. If you want a modern (aka clinical) holiday let, then this may not be for you but the charm and quaintness of the cottage and the surrounding area enabled us to relax and unwind and have probably the best holiday weve ever had (and we holiday 2/3 times a year). The whole cottage (Gemma and her family live next door) is on the market and selfishly I hope they dont sell it (or hubby wins the lottery and we can buy it) as it is a gem of a place and we have already booked to return next year! Superb holiday and already looking forward to returning next May. Hide

Beautiful cottage, a real home from home. The gardens were perfect for children and wonderful amenities in the house. Only drawback is the very narrow lane to access the property with very few passing places. Lovely walks though and beautiful sea views and a fabulous welcome basket from our host Gemma, who was so helpful and friendly.
