With its cosy and welcoming interiors, mature gardens, outdoor hot tub and barrel sauna, this charming cottage provides the ultimate rural retreat. Perched on a quiet country lane in the hamlet of Ash, it benefits from easy access to the historic town of Dartmouth and the beaches and attractions of the Start Bay coast. Sleeping four people in the main cottage with an annexe for an additional two if required, this dog-friendly abode is perfect for a family holiday or a getaway with friends.

Spread over two levels, this cottage is warm and homely from the moment you step inside. Set on a beautiful parquet floor with a wood burner in an impressive fireplace, the lounge invites cosy evenings and fireside chats. Two steps lead up to the fitted kitchen which has warm wooden cabinets and a breakfast bar, along with a large, farmhouse-style dining table. Upstairs, there’s a light-filled king-size bedroom with bi-fold doors leading out to the patio, along with a twin bedroom and a family bathroom. The exterior of this property is a real bonus. The garden is raised with steps up from the ground floor, opening out to decking with a picnic table, and an extended lawn that’s perfect for children and dogs to play safely. Feel cleansed and rejuvenated alternating between the sauna and hot tub and enjoy evenings stargazing. There’s an additional annexe with twin beds, a TV and a small sofa, but no en-suite facilities. There is an additional charge of £75 for use of the annexe.

Lace up your walking boots to discover trails around the property, or set out to explore the craggy coastline, beautiful bays and historic sights of Start Bay. Blackpool Sands (2 miles) and Slapton Sands (5 miles) offer a traditional family day at the beach, and the entire area has gorgeous walks and fantastic birdwatching – you may even spot dolphins or seals offshore! If you prefer, hire a kayak or paddleboard to potter along the coast.

Cosy cottage and good location for the coast and Dartmouth. Parking not ideal and owners should look to invest in off street parking as could be achieved.

Loved it as it reminded my wife and I of our London childhood homes of the 1960s / 70s. The place was untidy, dirty and not looked after at all. Loved the Formica kitchen worktop that was pealing, the rusty fridge freezer that took two days to find outside. The ikea duvets that were a tad bigger than the mattress. No central heating , but the electRead moreric heater supplied in living room was very good. The hot tub was nice but tired and needs attention. Loads of light bulbs not working had to take all the bulbs from main bedroom to power the two lamps in living room. The parking is obviously a problem, knock on the door on our first night asking us to move it from one of the two locations the owner recommended. Could go on but wont. The cottage needs closing for a month and a total refit. Apart from that had a good time in a nice isolated location. Hide

The location of the property is quiet and peaceful and a real tonic if you are looking to unwind/de-stress! The hot tub and sauna are a nice bonus.
