Escape the hustle and bustle at this contemporary North Devon hideaway. Surrounded by nature and just 7 miles from Exmoor National Park, this off-grid four-bedroom farmhouse is perfect for a family plus two hounds wanting relaxation, long hikes, and stunning scenery.

This 1850s farmhouse is bursting with warmth and character. Patio doors and sash windows flood the open-plan living area with natural light while the contemporary furnishings add an instant sense of welcome. The spacious lounge is an inviting space – gather on the comfy sofa and chairs, swap stories in front of the wood burner, or whip up delicious meals in the kitted-out kitchen. A large table is perfect for sociable meals and if the weather is good, you’ll want to push open the patio doors and let the warm air breeze in. When it’s time for bed, take the stairs to the first floor where you’ll find four large bedrooms. Choose between two king-size, one super-king-size zip-and-link, and one twin. All the bedrooms are well presented with the master bedroom boasting an en-suite bathroom and stunning countryside views. There’s also a thoroughly modern bathroom on this floor. Outside, the extensive grounds offer plenty of space for little ones and four-legged friends to run free. While they play on the lawn you can relax on the decked area or play a family game of table tennis, pool, or darts in the separate games barn.

Pull on boots and enjoy countryside walks straight from the door. Alternatively, journey 7 miles to Exmoor National Park and explore its moorland and woodland. For a fun day out with the family, head to Exmoor Zoo (6 miles) or swim in the sea at Woolacombe Beach (16 miles).

  • 4 bedrooms – 2 king-size, 1 super-king-size zip-and-link (can be made into twins on request), and 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with a free-standing bath, walk-in shower and WC, 1 en-suite shower room with shower and WC, and 1 separate WC
  • Range electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, wine fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine
  • Wood burner (first basket of logs included)
  • Smart TV in the lounge
  • Off-grid – electricity supplied by solar and battery storage, and a backup diesel generator which is in the games room
  • 3 separate lawn areas with tree swings and goal posts, a decking area with seating, a fire pit and a charcoal BBQ
  • Games room with full-size table tennis, full-size pool table and a dartboard, and a few board games
  • Pub 1 mile, shop 4.5 miles and beach 11 miles
  • The track to the house changes condition depending on the weather, and if the farmer is using it for moving the cows from field to milking. The first part of the track is concrete planks, it then turns to gravel and some mud, before turning back to concrete for the last section down to the houses. Regardless of the weather it is always usable in a normal family car, nobody has ever got stuck, but if wet conditions wheels and wheel arches will get muddy.

  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 3 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

Beautiful house with stunning views, it was clean with everything you need, lovely modern kitchen and bathrooms, the weather wasn't good when we arrived and so the games room with pool table, darts and table tennis was brilliant.

Wonderful break, very secluded and quiet but only 10mins from town. Excellent house for extended family gathering, plenty of space, wish we had longer.

Great Location! If you want beatiful views, no traffic noise, no artificial light for stargazing and no neighbours this is the perfect house stay. Games barn BBQ and fire pit were a hit with our teenagers and the house was plenty big enough for 6.

We had a fabulous time. We stayed with a family of 8 ranging from 9-87 years old and the house suited us all down to the ground. The interior was beautiful and we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with lovely views to the garden and beyond. We particularly loved the gardens that were large and wild and the meandering paths that the kids and our two laRead morerge dogs had fun exploring. The swallows nesting next to the decking area were a treat to watch especially when the babies fledged the nest during our stay. The location is within 30-40 mins drive of the fabulous north Devon beaches and 10 mins drive to Barnstaple town. The drive down to the property is slippy when wet so only suitable for family cars not vans etc. Hide

We had such a lovely weekend stay. The property and house are both stunning. While the short road to the house is a bit rough, just take it slow! Every space in the house is thoughtfully designed and cozy. The kitchen is well-stocked and the bedrooms were comfortable. The games barn was such a fun bonus. Would absolutely stay here again. The agents were responsive and supplied a cot for our infant, the games room was fun and the garden was absolutely lovely. The drive is tricky in wet weather but the house is spacious and spotlessly clean. Beds are comfy and we enjoyed our stay.
