Savour the exceptional comfort of this former fisherman’s cottage in Appledore. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom retreat is in a perfect position for wandering the picture-postcard village, with its quaint streets, galleries, independent shops and eateries. It is 2.5 miles from the golden sands of Westward Ho! Beach, where you can swim, surf and picnic.
Step up and straight into this traditional bolthole to find yourselves in the entrance, where you can hang your hats and coats. Amble on through to the welcoming lounge, where there are comfortable seats to unwind on and plantation shutters to offer privacy. This friendly room also has an abundance of character through its striking, stone chimney breast. Read a book in here or settle down in front of the Smart TV. The dining room, another lovely space, is beyond. Here you can enjoy breakfasts, lunches and dinners together, with the door to the courtyard garden open when the weather is warm. The modern kitchen is excellent for those eager to cater for their friends or family throughout their stay and there is a downstairs WC beyond. Your bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs on the first floor. These are both king-size, one with an en-suite bathroom and walk-through dressing space and the other with an en-suite shower room. One of the bedrooms has zip-and-link beds that can be made up as singles by prior arrangement instead. Parking for this cottage is either in public pay and display car parks or free on the road near the quay, subject to availability.
Stroll 0.5 miles alongside the River Torridge to the ferry which operates across to Instow, with its beach, in the high season. Barnstaple, with its colourful shops, market stalls and eateries, is 11.5 miles away. Pick up the South West Coast Path at Westward Ho!
