Escape with your loved ones to this serene Grade II-Listed retreat sitting on the edge of Exmoor National Park, just 10 miles outside the town of South Molton. Sleeping nine people across five bedrooms, this is the perfect accommodation choice for large families or groups of friends who want to celebrate a special occasion together in a tranquil home-away-from-home in the stunning Devonshire countryside. In the morning, walk across the ancient clapper bridge of Tarr Steps, and in the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful picnic by the river. In the evening, come home and indulge in a sizzling BBQ feast in the cottage’s pretty garden.

When you arrive at this delightful 17th-century farmhouse, park your car in the huge private parking area, which has room for six cars. Step inside and you''ll be greeted by an inviting lounge that offers a charming blend of historic character and modern comfort. Make yourself at home by the wood burner before you head to the country-style kitchen to rustle up some dinner. Gather everyone together in the traditional dining room, which boasts another wood burner, to enjoy a sociable meal at the large farmhouse-style table. Alternatively, head out into the garden, fire up the grill and dine alfresco – please note there is a small pond, so children must be supervised at all times. After dinner, roast some marshmallows at the firepit, or head back to the lounge to warm your toes in front of the wood burner. At the end of the day, you’ll find one twin bedroom on the ground floor, as well as a handy modern shower-room. Alternatively, climb the staircase from the dining room and you’ll discover four more beautifully-decorated bedrooms upstairs - a spacious super-king with dual-aspect windows, two charming king-size rooms, and a pretty single. An inner landing also leads to a bathroom with a bath and a shower. Completing the layout is a third bathroom with a bath and separate shower enclosure. There’s a second steep staircase going downstairs from this end of the house, which adds charm to this rustic-style property, but may not be convenient for those with mobility issues.

Head to Quince Honey Farm (10.5 miles) and watch the bees at work. Explore the sprawling beehives and treat your tastebuds to a tasting station. Alternatively, lose yourself in the picturesque landscapes of the 18th-century Castle Hill Gardens (13 miles). Enjoy a picnic on the lush lawns while you admire the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Idyllic little cottage in the middle of the Devonshire countryside. We stayed with our two children and our friends and their two children over the Christmas week. The wood burners added to the charm with a good amount of wood already supplied. Lots of pheasants, sheep and deer. The children loved it! Very cosy and Christmassy - which is exactly wRead morehat we were after, to get away from London. Would recommend visiting Dulverton about 25mins drive - lovely little village with a great pub. Myself and my husband stayed at the farm with our 2 sons and their wives and children. The house was perfect for us all, even if my sons, both 6 foot 4, had the odd bumped head on the low ceilings
