Make unforgettable memories with your loved ones at this gorgeous cottage sitting in the pretty village of Lapford, which traces its history back to the Iron Age. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it''s the ideal accommodation option for small families or groups of friends in search of a relaxing retreat to call home while they explore the tranquil countryside of Devon together. Spend blissful days strolling through Eggesford Forest or exploring the 14th-century Heywood Castle. In the evening, come home to relax with a glass of something cool and crisp in the cottage’s lovely garden.

Park your vehicle in the private garage (there is also private off-road parking available for one additional vehicle) and make your way to the entrance of this pretty cottage. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by an inviting open-plan lounge/diner bathed in neutral colours and natural textures, and adorned with a wooden floor and a cosy wood burner set within a brick fireplace. Take a moment to make yourself at home and soak up the country ambience in this rustic-style lounge area, before you make a beeline for the traditional country-style kitchen to cook up a storm. Gather everyone to eat at the pretty dining table by the window. After dinner, head out onto the lovely private garden across the small lane to sip on a glass of wine as you watch the stars come out, or make your way back to the cosy lounge area to unwind with a good book in front of the large wood burner. At the end of the day, head upstairs and you’ll find three delightful bedrooms - one king-size and two doubles – all of which boast exposed wooden beams and sloping ceilings. A large family bathroom completes the layout.

Climb aboard a boat for a leisurely boat trip on the scenic River Taw (12 miles). Keep your eyes peeled for waterfowls and waders and afterwards, find the perfect spot on the riverbank for a picnic. Alternatively, head into the historic market town of Crediton (10 miles) to check out the bustling market and treat yourself to something sweet for afternoon tea.

We had a great week at Coachmans Cottage. It was very comfortable for our family of four including two teenagers. The cottage was modern and well equipped. The location was great being close to public footpaths including a 10 minute walk to the excellent village pub.
