Located in the picturesque moorland village of Withypool, this retreat offers a fantastic base for exploring Exmoor National Park. Welcoming four guests in two bedrooms, this dog-friendly property is ideal for couples, families and groups of friends that love the great outdoors. Roam open moorland, amble along coastal trails and discover quaint villages, then return here to rest and recharge while gazing at the panoramic views from the lounge window.

Laid out over a single storey, this inviting property has a relaxed rural elegance with country-style decor, neutral tones and evocative artworks reflecting the natural landscape. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner invites relaxation after a day of adventuring. Sink into the squashy corner sofa with a cuppa and gaze out the panoramic window. When tummies start to rumble, the contemporary kitchen has all the ingredients to get cooking before gathering around the dining table to savour your creations. Along the hallway, two tastefully appointed bedrooms offer a welcome sanctuary to relax at the end of each day. Choose between a double with an en-suite and a twin room which has use of the family bathroom. Both rooms have TVs. This cottage benefits from two private courtyards with outdoor furniture and space for kids and dogs to play safely. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the owner’s landscaped garden and fish from their riverbank.

Wander through the village to sample the delights of the local tearoom and see the Grade II-listed stone bridge that crosses the River Barle. Walking routes from the village include a scenic 4-mile trail along the riverbank to the Tarr Steps. If you’re keen to learn more about Exmoor’s most famous residents, venture to the Exmoor Pony Centre (5.5 miles). For a day at the seaside, head to Bossington Beach (13.5 miles) or the seaside town of Minehead (16.5 miles).
