This spacious and well appointed fisherman’s cottage sits just 100 metres from the Quay in the heart of Appledore and offers a comfortable and homely base from which to step out and explore it’s waterside scenery, busy local shops, art galleries, and many welcoming pubs and eateries. On sunny days, stroll along the sand dunes, perhaps stopping for fish and chips on a scenic bench. The historic fishing village of Instow sits across the water – drive 5 miles to reach this charming spot or hop aboard the summer foot ferry for a quicker, more memorable journey. Walkers will love the trails including the Northam Burrows, Tarka Trail and the dramatic South West Coast Path. Other nearby hot spots include Westward Ho!, Bideford, Saunton, and the glorious North Devon National Landscape (all within 18 miles).

On arrival, step off the street and into the warm and welcoming lounge/diner, where two comfortable sofas are arranged around a crackling wood burner set within the stone fire place, or pull across the smart tv for cosy nights at home. When stomachs begin to rumble, move through to the well-provided cottage kitchen where chic blue units combine with modern amenities to provide everything needed for cooking up seaside feasts. Gather back at the comfortable dinning table to relax and enjoy the chef’s work. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility room with a washing machine, plus a well-equipped bathroom with walk in shower. At the end of each busy day away, climb the oak staircase to the first floor and uncover three restful bedrooms – two king-size rooms and a single bedroom that has it’s own work-from-home office space with ergonomic chair, desk and monitor. Serving the first-floor is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, bidet and WC, so completing the cottage’s generous 914 ft.² of floor space.

Accessible from the kitchen is a sweet courtyard with a table and chairs (and cheerful orange walls) – ideal for fresh morning coffees and al fresco dinners on balmy evenings. While no private parking is available, on-street parking surrounds the property (subject to availability), while several paid car parks are also nearby.

What an amazing place to stay, a real home from home. The owners have thought of everything. Some lovely touches including dishwasher & washing pods. Washing up liquid and even a selection of teas and coffee. Not to mention the thoughtful gesture of milk, scones and cream in the fridge. Would highly recommend visiting.

The cottage was beautiful and had everything you could need. Unfortunately, from the descriptions and pictures it looks like it was on the Quay but it was not and my husband had to drag the cases and bags to the property which was uphill . As my mobility is so poor I couldnt help and walking up the hill to the cottage was very difficult for myself Read moreand another in the party. However, if you are fit and well there would be no problem. Hide

Don't be put off by the colours on the photos, as we almost were! When you get there the cottage is lovely inside (it isn't garish). It is exceptionally clean, really well equipped, in a great and quiet location and it feels more like a home, with a high end finish, than a holiday let. Would we recommend - definitely.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This is a beautiful house (in a beautiful area), and the owners have thought about everything! The kitchen was well equipped and we were left fresh milk, scones and clotted cream and a welcome message on the blackboard. Books and games were available too. It is obvious a lot of thought has gone in to providing this as a holiday cottRead moreage. We would have no hesitation in booking again or recommending to others. Hide

We loved our stay in this cosy cottage, it was spotlessly clean and so well equipped for a family of 4, Appledore is a magical place and this cottage is brilliantly placed to explore. Would highly recommend.
