A gorgeous countryside cottage, this property is perfect for families or friends seeking a restful escape to the country – an ideal base for exploring Devon’s pretty countryside and beaches. North Molton is a 2-mile walk from the cottage along the footpath following the River Mole. Take the footpath in the opposite direction, and you’ll reach the market town of South Molton (1.5 miles), where you can explore the museum. Just 12 miles away is the historic market town of Barnstaple, also a starting point for the off-road cycling and walking Tarka Trail.

Enter this charming two-storey property through the kitchen. The delightful kitchen has all the appliances necessary to rustle up some family favourites and is a lovely social space. The open-plan lounge and dining room feature bi-fold doors that open onto the garden. Relax on the sofas, chat, read or watch a movie together on the Smart TV. Take the impressive handmade staircase up to the first floor, where there are three bedrooms: one king-size with an elegant en-suite shower room; one double with an en-suite bathroom with a free-standing bath; and one super-king-size, featuring double-aspect windows and an en-suite shower room. Please note the low beams upstairs. Outside is a garden mainly laid to lawn, with outdoor seating for enjoying a drink in fine weather. The cottage sits on four acres of meadows and ancient orchards. There is private parking for three cars.

For miles of golden sand perfect for walks, sandcastles, and water sports, head to Coombe Martin Beach or Saunton Sands, both less than 20 miles away. Keen walkers should head to Exmoor (3.5 miles), with Dunkery Beacon (18.5 miles) and Valley of Rocks (23 miles) offering breathtaking scenery. Alternatively, the National Trust Arlington Court and Carriage Museum is 18 miles away.

Orchard Cottage was absolutely perfect. It was immaculate and very clean. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the welcome basket was very much appreciated. Bedrooms were all wonderful and the beds were very comfortable with luxury linens. Each bedroom had its own ensuite bathroom, all very clean and luxurious, so it is perfect for 3 couplRead morees. We were a family of 3 with a 17 year old who really enjoyed having his own bathroom. The location was central and enabled us to travel north and west very easily with good road networks. South Molton was easily accessed and had shops and a sainsbury's supermarket. Barnstaple isn't far and had plenty of facilities, including a very nice restaurant, Lush. The owners are on site but they completely respect your privacy. The TV is huge and has access to lots of streaming services and the WiFi is excellent. We would love to stay here again. It is an exceptional property. It is definitely 5* and we would definitely recommend choosing Orchard Cottage. The photos don't do it justice. Hide

Fantastic property, lovely layout great extras like coffee machine, fridge freezer with ice maker. Great welcome pack, lovely setting and wonderful owners, so friendly and helpful. It was perfect and will recommend to family and friends.
