Part of a farm surrounded by a patchwork of fields, it welcomes guests into an entrance hall with plenty of space for shoes and coats. To the right is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner that’s flooded with natural light and sure to be the social hub of your holiday, with comfortable sofas and a Smart TV setting the scene for relaxing evenings by the wood burner. A dining suite is adjacent, close to the contemporary kitchen area that has everything you’ll need for effortless self-catering; open the French doors and you can step onto the patio for alfresco feasts. The Georgian village of Hartland is 5 miles away and is home to shops, pubs galleries and, close by, the 12th-century Hartland Abbey. Enjoy walks in the walled and woodland gardens here or head to Hartland Quay to see spectacular cliffs and rock pools. The South West Coast Path passes through, making it an ideal starting point for a dramatic walk; alternatively head to traffic-free Clovelly (7 miles) where the steep cobbled street winds downhill to a pretty, pebbly beach.
