This immaculate loft conversion, situated 5.5 miles from the market town of Barnstaple, offers a dog-loving couple a quirky bolthole deep in the North Devon countryside. Set in a location perfect for trips to the coast by day and stargazing at night, the secluded property offers imaginatively arranged open-plan living areas, access to a plant room and outdoor seating.

So much in and around this gorgeous property catches the eye, from the sloping ceilings and the inviting soft furnishings upstairs to the scenic tranquillity of the surrounding area. Enter via the small kitchen then take the stairs to the first floor leading into the bright and airy lounge/diner. This welcoming space is a place to eat, relax and forget about the world, and is bookended by a contemporary shower room at one end and a king-size bedroom with a large feature window at the other. The secluded seating outside is ideal for alfresco brunches, evening BBQs on warmer days and snuggling under a blanket with a bottle of fizz as the stars begin to light up the night sky. A plant room, ideal for storing muddy boots and coats after long walks, is situated nearby.

Scenic walks into Swimbridge (1 mile), the home of the clergymen who bred the first Jack Russell terrier, and Landkey (3 miles), are a great way to soak up the area, while the stunning landscapes of Exmoor National Park are within 11 miles. The shores at Saunton, Instow, Westward Ho! and Croyde (all within 16 miles) each offer a different coastal experience, while Barnstaple (5.5 miles) and South Molton (7.5 miles) are home to bustling pannier markets.

A lovely cottage within beautiful grounds, and being fairly new, everything was still in perfect condition. Access is via tight lanes, so be careful driving! We did find the downstairs kitchen rather cramped but in fairness we did know in advance, though the photos did make it look a little bigger. Upside-down houses aren't for everyone and our dogRead moregy did find it a little odd! But we had a lovely stay. What a wonderful, peaceful location! It was the perfect base for our day trips we never had to travel more than 45 minutes to get anywhere. Very friendly and welcoming owners, and very helpful. The cottage was very clean, cosy and comfortable. The setting was amazing, grounds well tended, lots of wildlife. A truly fabulous week, with lots of interesting areas to visit.

The Loft was very comfortable, clean and quite. The location was gorgeous with lovely countryside views. Jo and Andrew were very welcoming and gave some recommendations of where to go in the local area. We would visit again!

The loft is beautiful to look at (inside and out) but not practical for a weeks stay. lacking in kitchen equipment and storage to put your clothes, my partner and I had 5 hangers on a short rail to hang all of our clothes. This is a good location if you want to unwind. If you want to explore beaches and areas of local interest, be prepared to traveRead morel at least 30mins and a time. Im not sure if this was out of character, but we did find the hosts rude We decided to leave a day early. Hide

The Lodge is an absolute 10/10! Gorgeous property. Very comfortable. The hosts are absolutely lovely and make sure that you have a lovely stay.
