It sleeps 10 guests plus two children, with three dogs welcome to join, making it a fabulous choice for large family gatherings or holidays with friends. You’ll enter via a generous hallway before stepping into the large lounge/diner. This has plush sofas, a Smart TV and a grand dining table for celebratory meals. On sunny days, open the doors and let the outside in. The impressive kitchen/diner has sloped ceilings, skylights and a breakfast bar, along with excellent appliances for cooking up holiday feasts. There’s also a boot room and two downstairs WCs for added convenience. One double bedroom is on the ground floor, while upstairs you’ll find a super-king-size bedroom with countryside views towards the Wellington Monument, a sofa bed for two children and an en-suite bathroom. You’ll also have two king-size bedrooms, a twin room and a luxurious family bathroom with a freestanding bath, positioned beneath a skylight. There’s plenty of space for relaxing outside, too – the spacious garden includes a patio for al fresco dining, a charcoal BBQ and a bubbling hot tub overlooking the surrounding fields and wildlife. Parking is available for five cars.

Nearby, head to Chimney Down Common (3 miles) or the Blackdown Hills (4.5 miles) for scenic rambles. Exmoor National Park (12.5 miles) is home to wild ponies which you may encounter, along with dramatic granite outcrops and moorland views. For something more adventurous, head to Wimbleball Lake (17 miles) where you can explore walking and cycling trails or try your hand at water sports.
