Set on a quiet residential road, this charming holiday property enjoys an enviable location near shops, pubs, and the fishing harbour of Brixham in South Devon on the English Riviera. With Saxon roots, a fascinating history of pirates, smugglers and wreckers, and a Dutch influence, there's much to explore along the shores of this charming port town, and festivals to enjoy, including the annual pirate festival in May.

Take steps up to the entrance of this property, into the bright open-plan living, kitchen and dining space. Unwind on the cosy seating by the SmartTV, have fun in the fantastic games room, or gather in the dining area and enjoy the warming wood burner as you tuck into a family feast prepared in the well-equipped kitchen (note steps between the kitchen and dining area). Step out from the kitchen to enjoy the enclosed outside patio - with steps up to a lofty terraced area as night falls, you'll find three cosy bedrooms and a family bathroom with a free-standing roll-top bath, separate shower, and WC on the first floor, and a triple bedroom (accessed by cottage-style stairs) on the second floor, where there are some sloped ceilings.

Admire the fishing cottages in Brixham Harbour, finding delicious cafe treats, and source freshly-caught fish at Brixham Fish Market. Discover artefacts and family fun at Brixham Heritage Centre and see The Golden Hind, a replica of Frances Drake's ship in the harbour. Amble along Berry Head (1.5 miles) for cliff-top walks, a charming lighthouse, and abundant wildlife. Take a 30-minute ferry from Brixham to explore the charms of Torquay, or visit Paignton (5.5 miles) and board the Dartmouth Steam Railway which chugs along the coast and the charming River Dart.

Lovely house with everything you need to have a relaxing break. Having a garage is a plus, especially on those very narrow roads. A couple of things we noticed. As we entered the property, we were met with a very musty smell. Some nice diffuser wouldve sorted it out- I popped into the town centre, which is only 10 minutes away and bought an appleRead more blossom diffuser to put near the entrance. Smells are very important to me, they create memories. The large sofas felt damp and musty too. I could smell that dirty dog smell. I appreciate that this property allows dogs in. We dont normally let our little and well-behaved dog on furniture. I felt very uncomfortable sitting on them and I had to make sure that I had a blanket in place so I could sit more comfortably. I usually have the habit of taking a candle with me on holiday, I am so glad I had one of my favourites from Norfolk Natural Living. This beautiful candle helped disguise the odour around the sofas. The back garden did not appear to be cared for, there was a great amount of dead leaves and weeds across. All having been said, we had a great time- lovely beds with a great mattress, we slept very well. There was a small bottle of milk in the fridge as a welcome, which we certainly appreciated. Hide

Cottage was nice with addition of games room . Comfy but missing some basic items in kitchen and down stairs toilet . Outside back of house does not look like photo full of weeds and leaves . The slope down to town center is the easiest way down but is steep coming up . The garage was a bonus for parking .

Such a beautiful house to stay in, perfect for all the family! Lovely to have room to eat and sit altogether! Perfect location and having the garage parking is brilliant! It was our second stay and we are looking forward to returning again soon!

Overall nice characterful house, in a great location with enough space for all of us, just a little let down by the lacking of basics

We enjoyed our stay at the Pilot House, lots of things to do, games and tabletop retro video game machine. Attic room is fun but with steep spiral stairs to it. Other bedrooms are spacious and well appointed. A generous bathroom/shower room, and well equipped kitchen. There's a number of steps, both in and outside the apartment, but nothing unusualRead more. The upper patio has steep steps to it, both patios could do with some refreshing. Parking under is tight but fine. Position very good for town. Hide

Lovely, large well equipped and comfortable house. The garage was a great bonus as parking is both difficult and expensive in Brixham. The routes down into town kept us fit.

lovely cosy family home,Really enjoyed reading the history of the cottage. loved the log burner.and our 2 granddaughters loved the games table in the games room. Ideally situated for long walks ,although the return journey back up for us grandparents very challenging in places if used the steps.the road opposite was a much easier option.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week- a few (steep!) minutes walk from town, 5 minutes from the harbour, very convenient. On-street parking is near impossible (as described), but despite saying that the garage can fit a medium size car, we managed (with suspension lowered) to get our full size 4x4 into the garage, which was a godsend. Great house, good fRead moreacilities, secure lower courtyard for dogs. Great. Hide
