Escape to the countryside with a stay in this gorgeous converted barn. It’s overflowing with character due to the charming original features that have been retained throughout such as vaulted ceilings and exposed wooden beams. This holiday home is located in the peaceful and tranquil North Devon countryside and is sure to provide a warm and welcoming place for relaxing holidays in the South West.

The pretty decor inside the cottage creates an ambience perfect for unwinding during your break. Snuggle up by the wood burner in the lounge/diner for cosy evenings. There’s plenty of space for four with the open-plan kitchen/dining area, providing a lovely place for downtime, while two nicely decorated bedrooms, a double and twin, both embrace their rustic charm with wooden furnishings and countryside views. Outside you’ll find a delightful patio and garden, and guests are welcome to explore the grounds which are shared with the complex of properties. You can truly embrace the calm of the countryside by settling down to lunch at the picnic bench and watching ducks bathe in the pond.

You’ll be only 2 miles from the nearest pub and shop, and the delightful market town of Holsworthy is 6 miles away - great for picking up local produce. The beautiful coastal town of Bude is 15 miles away; ideal for a day trip as this town hosts many great attractions such as a sandy beach which is great for surfing, swimming, and a lovely place for a dip in the tidal pool. For more fun days out head to The BIG Sheep farm-themed amusement park (15 miles), RHS Rosemoor (11 miles), Tamar Lakes (10 miles) and The Milky Way Adventure Park (14 miles).

Dairy Cottage is a really tiny cottage; the photos create an impression of spaciousness that doesn't exist in reality, though it is reasonably adequate for two adults and perhaps a small child. The interior design is interesting a mix of antiques and modern elements. It lacks a coffee table and a place to hang outdoor clothing; the latter is defRead moreinitely essentialafter all, where are wet jackets and coats supposed to be dried and stored? Where are you supposed to hang dog harnesses and coats? Over the dining chairs or outside in the rain? It is baffling that the owners didn't think of this. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped, only missing a second frying pan and lids for the pan and pots, though otherwise, all the essentials are there. Four-legged guests were also considered: towels, snacks, and waste bags were all provided. A major plus is the small wood-burning stovedon't let its size fool you; once lit, it heats the entire cottage very quickly. This is a huge advantage on rainy days when dampness seeps in through every crack; the stove drives out the moisture rapidly and creates a pleasant indoor climate. The carpets in the bedroom and living area are in urgent need of cleaning; the one in the living room, in particular, has a slight musty odor. The cottage was generally clean, but cobwebs and dust strands on the ceilings and walls created an impression of neglect. The bathroom was clean, but the cleaner really ought to clean the underside of the toilet lid as well. There are no insect screens on the windows (the pest control device isn't enough), which is an issue given that the cottage is situated amidst fields and lush vegetation, close to a pond. Our biggest issue was the cottage's location; although the estate where it is situated is lovely, however, the roads leading there are in a disastrously poor condition - they are practically nothing but potholes. Every drive along these roads was a challenge for the car and for the backs of the passengers. Hide

Lovely little cottage on a farm with it's own little courtyard. Be aware that it is 3 or 4 miles from the nearest facilities - pub, shop etc.

We arrived to a generous welcome pack for us and our dogs. We stayed in June when we had very hot weather. The owners went over and beyond to offer solutions for us and our dogs, very caring, understanding and pet friendly. We visited Instow Beach, Bude, Shebbear, Holsworthy & Bideford. Very comfortable, super clean with some delightful treats awaiting. Very secure courtyard yard area for even the smallest of escapee dogs - which is most reassuring. A wonderful field to especially for the dogs. This is my 4th visit to Bagbeare - I love it. Owners lovely, on site, but you wouldnt even know. Thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Our second visit to Dairy Cottage, it is a wonderful place to step away from everything and just relax. A few narrow roads but its Devon so it what was expected. The dog field made it easy to let the boys run and have some exercise even on our days of rest. Colin and Sara are wonderful hosts and helped make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. Lovely little cottage. Perfect for my husband and I and our large rescue dog. Lots of beautiful dog friendly places to visit nearby and quiet places too.
