Stopped at Appledore many times but this was the first time at Hartland House. The accommodation was very good, clean, well presented and well equipped. Only a 5 min walk to the Quay and centre of Appledore.

Having spent many years going on holiday to Devon I must say this was a true gem to find with off road parking and views over the harbour to Instow. The property has everything you would need and more. My 2 dogs enjoyed the garden area and felt very at home. I can not recommend this property enough the owner was lovely when texting.

Our visit to the house did not get off to a good start. When we opened the back door and could see dirty linen trailing down the staircase, we actually thought we had arrived mid clean even though it was 5.30pm. I had a white towel left in the downstairs bathroom which was covered in stains. The downstairs shower seals were also covered in black mRead moreould. The grass outside was very, very long and concealed a lot of dry dog excrement which was smelling terribly in the hot weather and not easy to spot as the grass was so long. I had been told less than a week before arrival that the neighbours were replacing a fence and had put a temporary one in place which wasnt attractive to look at. The neighbours were very nice and told me the fence work had been going on since January so why it wasnt made clear when I booked a couple of months ago? I can only assume that the very short notice was so I couldnt cancel which I had tried to do. All the walls and doors, skirting boards etc were marked and very dirty. The first floor toilet had brown run marks all down the back of it which wasnt attractive - pretty disgusting actually. Thank goodness for the nice weather so we could go out. The only plus points were the view from the balcony and the parking space. The whole place needs a massive deep clean and cut the grass regularly. Hide

Hartland House exceeded all expectations. Well appointed, very comfortable and very well equipped and the designated parking space was a very welcome bonus. We have visited Appledore multiple times over the last 11 years and have stayed in many different cottages in different parts of Appledore. Hartland House met every expectation and need; in facRead moret had too many rooms for 2 of us and 2 dogs, not a complaint! It is maybe a few minutes further to our favourite pub, The Beaver Inn, but the extra walk is no bad thing. A perfect base for walks along the South West Coastal Path, trips to Crow Point to see the town from another angle, Lynton & Lynmouth via Ilfracombe, Marwood Hill Gardens (a hidden gem near Barnstaple) and generally pottering and relaxing for a week. A fantastic base. Thank you. Hide

Fantastic property with outstanding views from both top floors. With its own parking space it is a big plus as other properties could be seen struggling to park. The walk to the centre of Appledore was less than 5mins. Lovely places to eat and great to watch the world go by.
