Enjoy walks from your front door at this characterful cottage with lovely views. Close to the market town of South Molton, it’s a great base for couples or families to get out and about in Devon’s pretty countryside.

Find the best of old and new combined in this beautifully holiday let, set in tranquil surroundings with every window framing gorgeous scenery. From the spacious kitchen two steps up lead to the lounge/diner, making this a convivial, open-plan space for stress-free cooking, eating at the farmhouse table and then relaxing by the wood burner – perhaps playing a game, planning the next day’s activities or streaming a movie on the Smart TV. There’s also a family bathroom with a WC on this floor, while the two bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, are on the first floor and each boast their own en-suite shower room. From the lounge, step down onto the paved terrace, from which there are outstanding views of the wooded valley at the front of the property, which you can admire while you enjoy an al fresco meal or drink. From here, a gate leads into a field that’s shared with the adjoining holiday cottage and is sometimes used by the owner’s sheep.

The cottage is located on a 300-acre working sheep farm in the foothills of Exmoor, where there are rugged moors, hidden valleys and pretty woodlands to explore. Hike, cycle, ride or even canoe (at Wimbleball Lake, 21 miles), and afterwards enjoy a drink or a meal in one of the three country pubs that are within 4 miles of your hideaway. If it’s raining, there’s an indoor climbing centre 3.5 miles away. For shopping, South Molton is 4 miles and Barnstaple is 14.5 miles, while the beach at Saunton Sands is just 23 miles.

The barn has been tastefully converted and very clean. The beds are comfy and the sofas, lovely views across the fields and woods and very quite, only downside really it is off the beaten track down country lanes and very lovely hosts Katie and Jason

We (family of three) had a great time in this converted barn. Everything was very clean and the whole barn was equipped with all the stuff that we needed. The barn is a bit more remote, but this was no problem at all, as it also guaranteed a very quiet surrounding and absolute relaxation. Kate is a wonderful and humorous host who puts a lot of effoRead morert into this barn. For us it was really a home away from home and we cant recommend this place enough! Great stay, thanks again! Lovely barn conversion cottage, immaculately clean, spacious and well equipped. Very peaceful location on a sheep farm, with nice views from the patio and lots of wildlife to see. The single track lane off the main road takes about 10 minutes but didn't cause us any issues. Warm welcome from owner Katie.
