Book a stay to remember at this wonderfully original 1960s showman’s wagon, located in a peaceful farmland spot just outside the village of Winkleigh. With one double bed, it’s fabulous for an unconventional solo trip or romantic escape. You’ll be surrounded by rolling Devon countryside, so it’s a lovely place for slowing down, listening to birdsong and admiring spectacular sunsets beneath dark evening skies. Around 3 miles away you’ll find local shops and welcoming pubs, while the market town of Okehampton (11 miles) has a wider choice of amenities along with access to Dartmoor National Park.
The wagon has been lovingly refurbished in keeping with its vintage character, with plenty of retro styling. Inside, the open-plan living area makes the most of every inch, with a sofa, a dining spot, a Smart TV and wood burner set within a feature fireplace. Just off the well-equipped kitchen is a contemporary shower room with a shower and WC, with the double bedroom at the rear. There’s plenty of space for relaxing outside, too, with a private enclosed raised decking area that enjoys far-reaching countryside views – perfect for morning coffee and sunset drinks resting on the loungers. The gentle trickle of a nearby stream can be heard nearby. There’s also a grassy area to the front and rear of the wagon for relaxed al fresco dining or evenings cooking up treats on the BBQ. Shared facilities include an external utility room with a washing machine, freezer, dog shower and honesty shop, as well as a shared EV charger. You’ll have private parking for one car.
In the immediate area, gentle walks, cycling and scenic drives through rolling farmland all come recommended. Dartmoor National Park has rugged landscapes, open moorland and endless walking opportunities. For days out by the sea, the dramatic North Devon coastline is approximately 22 miles away for traditional seaside days, coastal walks and breathtaking views – Westward Ho!, Appledore and Woolacombe are all excellent options.
