A welcoming retreat in the West Dorset coastal town of Lyme Regis, this charming hideaway is ideal for couples and small families with older children. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom cottage offers bright, homely accommodation and a cosy ambience for socialising and relaxing. Stroll 300 metres down to the sands at Church Cliff Beach to dip your toes in the shallows or head to the town’s main beach, about the same distance, to swim, picnic or hunt for fossils. Enjoy your proximity to shops, eateries and museums. Venture out along the Jurassic Coast to discover other beautiful beaches and coves. Follow a section of the picturesque South West Coast Path if you enjoy exploring on foot, or stroll 5 miles to the National Trust’s Golden Cap, with its 2,000 acres of glorious wood and meadowland. Alternatively, enjoy a country walk up to the hillforts at Lambert’s and Coney’s Castles, 5.5 miles away.
Step into the inviting cottage from the street and find yourselves in the cosy lounge with its exposed stonework. Take a seat on the sofa to discuss your adventures, leaf through a magazine or find your current boxset on the Smart TV. There is an electric flame-effect fire in here to enhance the ambience on crisp autumn and winter days. Amble past the bottom of the stairs to emerge in the country-style kitchen/diner. Open the French windows at the end during the hot weather to bring in a cool breeze. Prepare home-cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen area, then congregate around the wooden farmhouse table for your meals. There is a dishwasher to ensure you don’t have to work too hard during your holiday. As each day draws to a close, carefully make your way up the steep, cottage-style stairs to the first floor where your bedrooms are located. Here, you will find a delightful double, as well as a twin that has zip-and-link beds and can also be made up as a super-king-size if discussed in advance. The family bathroom, which offers both a bath and a shower, is also here.
Amble out into the shared courtyard on bright, sunny mornings to enjoy the fresh air on one of the folding chairs provided. Chat out here over a glass of wine on fine evenings too. Guests benefit from private, off-road parking for one car, 200 metres from the cottage, but are welcome to unload and load beside the property.
