Property code: OC-SUMMER

This tastefully modernised 19th-century cottage is in a superb location beside the cascading East Lyn River in a beautiful area surrounded by dramatic scenery both inland and along the coast. This makes it an ideal base for both keen walkers and family groups and a lovely home to return to after a busy day.

Approached across a pretty front garden with a driftwood path, the spacious entrance hall leads into a stylish and well-proportioned, dual aspect living room with large bay window and wood burner, making this a beautifully cosy space for those cooler evenings. Across the hall to the left is a spacious dual aspect dining kitchen with rustic style oak units, complemented by a limestone tiled floor and from here, a rear door leads out onto the small private courtyard. Upstairs are three beautifully finished and attractive bedrooms all served by a family bathroom and separate WC. The master double and a twin room enjoy views across the river and the second twin room is at the rear. Outside, guests can relax on the bistro set in the sunny front garden listening to the sound of the river as it winds its way down to the sea.

Located in the lovely village of Lynmouth, there are plenty of lovely things to do nearby. Guests can stroll down to the harbour and enjoy some fish and chips or jump aboard the funicular cliff railway that takes you up to the equally pretty village of Lynton. Visitors can also enjoy the endless natural beauty of the nearby Exmoor National Park including the Doone Valley, Valley of the Rocks and Woody Bay which are all within 5 miles. For a more vibrant scene, head to the harbour town of Ilfracombe (19 miles) with its boat trips from the harbour or beautiful Tunnels Beaches, and if you’re looking for family fun, the attractions of Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park or Watermouth Castle are 12 and 16 miles respectively.

We had a fantastic stay and truly felt at home, even though we were far from home. The cottage is in a wonderful location, right next to the East Llyn River, making it perfect for peaceful walks. It's also just a short stroll to the sea, shops, and restaurants, so everything you need is within easy reach. The cottage is spacious and very well laRead moreid out, with three comfortable bedrooms, a large and inviting living room, a lovely front garden, and a well-equipped kitchen and dining area. Having two toilets was a real bonus, and while there's only one bathroom, it's cosy and perfectly suited to the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable getaway. Hide

A welcoming, comfortable and warm cottage located on a quiet road but close to the town, it has a well appointed kitchen with a dining table that will sit 6 comfortably. the living room is spacious and light and there is a pretty courtyard garden with 2 caf style tables at the front. A beautiful and comfortable cottage that feels homely. The cottage was clean throughout and smelt fresh upon arrival. Great location, having a parking permit made parking much easier in such a busy village. Would highly recommend this cottage, second time we have stayed and would certainly return.

Well equipped cottage in a great location. Parking outside was OK when we needed it but isn't reserved so would recommend buying a 7 day permit from the council in High season which allows parking just across the bridge and in lots of other car parks.

Had a lovely stay at Summerville, thank you for the lovely cake and milk very much appreciated after a long journey. The property was lovely and quiet, very clean and spacious. The only negative we found was the overgrown trees in the front garden that made inside dark, and made it unable to have the evening sitting out. This has been raised to Read morethe housekeeper who has said she will speak with the owners. We would return to Summerville in future with no hesitation. Hide
