At a glance

  • This peaceful reverse-level cottage is set in the colourful coastal village of Appledore, making it ideal for couples and small families.
  • Upstairs, enjoy sublime views across the estuary from the Juliet balcony—the perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine after a day by the sea.
  • At the end of the street, you’ll find the stunning South West Coast Path, while a great selection of pubs, restaurants, cafés and shops are all within easy walking distance.
  • A charming base for exploring North Devon’s beautiful coastline.
Property code: OC-CORNER

Appledore has an abundance of unspoilt charm, its many fishermen's cottages tucked away in a maze of narrow cobbled pathways, and this cottage, as you may expect, nestles in the corner between two similar cottages. It’s ideally suited for couples or young families seeking a good base from which to explore this beautiful area. When you return, take a seat and gaze across the water from the Juliet balcony.

Being in reverse style to take full advantage of the fabulous views, stairs lead from the ground-floor hall to the cosy open-plan first-floor living room with the modern kitchen area with a dining table to one end and a comfortable seating area with a Smart TV. There is a bay window with French doors that, when fully open, create a balcony inside the living room where you can sit and enjoy the panoramic views over the estuary. Downstairs, there are two bedrooms and a small bathroom; the double bedroom enjoys estuary views, and the smaller bunk room has 3ft bunks. The bottom bunk may suit one adult. The top bunk is very high and therefore is not suitable for smaller children or adults.

The pretty quayside of Appledore with shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants is just a short stroll away. Explore the area and discover Greysands Beach (1.5 miles) nearby or walk up the hill and watch Appledore FC (1 mile) play at the weekend. Across the water is Instow (6 miles) which has a dune-backed beach, pubs, restaurants and a deli. You can even get the passenger ferry over from Appledore during the summer. Westward Ho! is just 2.5 miles away and boasts a huge beach, plenty of eateries and gorgeous walks along the South West Coast Path.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double, 1 bunk bed
  • 1 bathroom with shower over the bath and WC
  • Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, Barrista Nespresso coffee machine, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher
  • Travel cot available upon request
  • Night storage heating
  • Smart TV, Fibre cable broadband - 100 mbps
  • Please bring your own beach towels
  • Juliet balcony
  • Limited parking nearby or in a public car park about 250 metres away
  • Beach 3 miles, pub and shop just over 300 metres
  • Suitable for 3 Adults only (no children) OR 2 Adults and 2 Children only.
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • Sorry, no dogs allowed

Cute little property. Excellent location and views from lounge. Was lovely to watch the boats and wildlife going by. Purchsed a one week parking permit for the main carpark on the front which worked well and there were always spaces available. Would holiday here again for the location and views.

What a delightful little cottage! Perfect for the two of us and the view out over the estuary can't be beaten, wonderfully peaceful and quiet. Close to all the amenities Appledore has to offer. Free parking is limited but the car park is cheap if you buy a week long ticket and very close. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our travels around the loRead morecal area. Hide

The compact cottage is full of charm and in an excellent location alongside Appledore Pool, enabling visitors to sit in the picture window watching the tide coming in and the boats passing by. It is close to local amenities and Appledore is a vibrant place with lots going on, plus a good hub for exploring the Tarka Trail, Westward Ho! and Bideford.Read more Appledore is still a fishing village and you can cook the local fish or visit local restaurants. I love this cottage, the location is perfect for peace and quiet. The cottage has been kept in more traditional style than some of the cottages locally, which adds to its charm. I will be back soon, and wish i could stay permenantly!
