If you walk for 2.5 miles along the coastal path (or along the beach), you’ll come to Putsborough Beach, another excellent spot for surfing and sandcastles. If retail is more your thing, the large village of Braunton (5.5 miles) has plenty of shops and a monthly farmers’ market. A little bit further afield is Barnstaple (11 miles), North Devon’s main town, where you can head to the cinema, the theatre, the leisure centre or shop until you drop on the high street.
