Book a stay in this gorgeous period property in Beer, Devon, where it is said the lace for part of Queen Victoria’s wedding dress was made. Although dating back to the 17th century, this property is now a comfortable and welcoming holiday retreat for the modern-day visitor and, sleeping seven guests, could be ideal for one large family or two smaller ones together. With four bedrooms, the surprisingly spacious, characterful abode has a sun-soaked courtyard garden, where you can unwind out in the fresh air.
Open the front door, step through the vestibule and find yourselves in the dining room, where you can gather together for holiday feasts. From here head through into the main lounge to spread out to relax on the soft seating or open the French doors on to the garden on warm days. The dining room also opens on to a small snug with a TV, while the main lounge leads into the kitchen, which has a central island, breakfast bar and ample space for storing your Devon-bought provisions and making tasty meals. Also downstairs is a wet room, WC and utility area. Make your way up to the first floor to find a double bedroom, a twin and a single, together with the family bathroom. The courtyard garden is the perfect place to relax with a glass of chilled wine and enjoy the warmth of the summer evening. There is parking for two cars at this cottage.
Stroll round charming Beer with its independent shops and eateries. Enjoy spending time on the picture-postcard beach, just 100 metres from your holiday home. Pick up the South West Coast Path and hike 2 miles to Branscombe, where you can also dip in the sea and take in the views.
