Luxuriate in a romantic getaway to this fairy-tale, thatched cottage in Branscombe, East Devon. Sleeping two guests, plus their faithful, four-legged friend, the exquisite hideaway has a wood burner for cosy nights in together and a small, courtyard garden for soaking up the last of the evening warmth over a glass of fizz. The property is 1.5 miles from the scenic beach and offers magnificent walking opportunities, including along the South West Coast Path.

Let yourselves in through the stable door, then hang your coats and unlace your walking boots. There is a utility room, with WC, and then the enticing, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its wood burner housed in a stone, inglenook fireplace. Read your books in here or find a good film to cuddle up in front of as the wood burner crackles gently. Head over to the stylish kitchen space to make yourselves light snacks or candle-lit dinners, then pull your chairs up to the table. An open-tread staircase leads up to the first floor, where you will find your sumptuous king-size bedroom, with its characterful, sloping ceiling, and a beautifully finished shower room. Sit outside in the courtyard garden on sunny days, with a cup of tea and a freshly baked scone and Devon cream. There is parking for one car.

Head off on long coastal and country walks from the cottage. Follow the South West Coast Path for 2 miles from Branscombe Beach to Beer, where there is another charming place to swim. There are also a few independent shops in this village to potter around. Make your way into Seaton, 5 miles away, for an even broader selection of colourful outlets and eateries. Venture 4 miles from the holiday home to the Iron Age hillfort at Blackbury Camp or 2.5 miles to Beer Quarry Caves.

This cottage is perfect for two people and if youre like us, a dog. Its in the most beautiful setting surrounded by hills, thatched cottages and well worn paths. The only thing to be aware of if your dog loves chasing a ball on a sandy beach is that all of the beaches in the area are pebble. Hide

On original publicity couldn't see any mention of WiFi or heating It said no phone signal. So thought maybe no WiFi either! Heating was good but wasn't mentioned in original description. Seating wasn't brilliant. Not much room on sofa! Bed could do with a mattress topper as cd feel the mattress buttons which are uncomfortable. Otherwise all good. Lovely cottage, beautiful location. Cleaning has improved since last visit a year ago. You need to get the front door seen to. It has swollen in the wet and doesn't fit, making it very difficult to close and open

Loved the cottage Fantastic response from complaints team V difficult when water supply cut off (not just hot water but all water) to property to implement any clear way forward. Was eventually told to contact number in case of emergency on travel directions but that did not exist. Hence no other option but to come home
