Property code: OC-JBGLEN

This three-bed Victorian terrace artfully combines original period features with stylish modern interiors. Located slightly off the beaten track in a quiet part of Sidmouth convenient for the town, between the River Sid and the pebbly beach (300 metres), it’s ideal for an extended family plus one dog, as The Ham park and garden are within 50 metres for little legs (furry and otherwise) to run around in. It even boasts a courtyard garden and sea views from the house.

Admire the Victorian good looks of this well-presented house before being welcomed in by its homely rooms over three storeys. Downstairs, the open-plan lounge/diner makes a practical space if you want to keep an eye on younger family members or if people want to do different things. Meanwhile, the cook of the group can be rustling up a holiday feast in the well-equipped kitchen. Up on the first floor, you’ll find one spacious double with a chair in the big bay window offering sea views, plus a bright twin, both with ornamental fireplaces. Up again, there’s the final calming double bedroom, complete with a characterful dormer window. Outside, a shared gate leads to a planted area with a bench to watch the world go by. To the rear, there’s an enclosed, furnished courtyard garden with pretty pots and seating.

Take a stroll along The Esplanade if the pebbles get too much and soak up the Regency splendour of this vibrant town. Walk further afield as the South West Coast Path connects Sidmouth to other Lyme Bay coastal resorts. Check out Jacob’s Ladder with its great views and take the wooden steps up to historic Connaught Gardens with its pretty displays and bandstand. Or, for something completely different, make some new friends at the free-to-visit Donkey Sanctuary, 3 miles out of town.

Excellent location, play park outside the door, beach and town all in 5 mins walk, definitely worth buying a weekly parking permit from East Devon. We had a very comfortable stay, house is very well equipped, I would happily live there.

Glenisla was close to all amenities, it was lovely not needing a car for a week. The property was a lovely family home with everything you would need. We're looking forward to staying again next year.

My friends and I have booked this property every year - bar one - since 1999. It has been constantly improved and the facilities upgraded, and with its exceptionally convenient location, we hope to come back again and again.

The cottage was great, the location was perfect and there was everything we needed in it. We loved the fact that our dog got a welcome treat as well as us! The only thing to improve it would be to add a shower over the bath with a screen or curtain. Getting 6 of us ready each day with no real shower took time and we bought a bath mat so the floor Read moredidnt get too wet. Also we spent a while wondering why we had no hot water. I dont remember reading anywhere that we needed to switch the hot water on so maybe giving that information would help( unless I missed that somewhere). Hide

There was a lot of kitchen equipment, but it was a bit disorganised but found most things in the end! We couldn't quite work out heating. Came on at funny times and then couldn't switch it off. More instructions would be helpful. Otherwise, really nice place to stay. Really central. Lovely park nearby and view of sea. Delightful private entrance oRead moreff park and backyard a sun trap.
