Description

Breath-taking views are a real highlight of this charming cottage by the sea, perched on the cliff top overlooking the Atlantic Ocean stretching from Hartland to Baggy Point with Lundy Island on the horizon. Ideal either as a romantic break for two, for walkers or a family who appreciate the tranquillity, Williams Cottage is light and airy with an open plan lower level. The sitting room has a cosy wood burning stove and an alcoved window seat which is a perfect spot to relax and gaze out at the amazing sea views. From the separate dining room, also with lovely sea views, a few steps lead down into the kitchen (a glass partition separates the two levels) which has a stable door opening onto the garden. A fairly steep staircase leads up to an attractive good sized double bedroom where you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of a nearby waterfall tumbling through a cleft down to the sea. A further compact double room with stunning sea views shares a bathroom with a hip bath and shower over. The garden has a patio and BBQ area and there is a stream just across the front lawn separated by a low wall (please take care with young children). A short stroll leads down to the pebble beach, where at low tide expanses of soft sand appear between the rock pools. Bucks Mills village lies on a section of the South West Coast Path between Clovelly and Westward Ho! so it is an ideal spot for walkers. From Clovelly you can take a fishing trip from the small cove or simply explore the ancient cobbled streets. Westward Ho! and its fabulous stretch of golden sands, popular with surfers is just a ten minute drive away. Boat trips to Lundy Island in summer offer a rare opportunity to see seals, dolphins, puffins and other diverse wildlife in their natural habitat. There is so much to see and do in this unspoilt part of North Devon, and Williams Cottage is a really special home to return to.

Williams Cottage offers 20% discount for parties of 2 or less between October - March. The price is automatically calculated at the time of booking.

Reviews

Stunning location. Beautiful views. Well equipped pretty cottage in a very quiet location with only a very short walk to a very private (albeit largely stoney) beach.

Mr P,

A sweet, quirky little cottage in a fabulous location. Amazing sunsets.

Mrs S,

Williams Cottage is everything that the website images promise but they can't quite convey just how beguiling this location in the picture-postcard hamlet of Bucks Mills is. The cottage is just a few minutes steep walk down to the pebble beach - although there is a strip of sand to wade out on at low tide. The property is also directly on the coastal path and the unique village of Clovelly can be reached in a couple of hours in one direction along this. Further afield but not far is a great beach at Westward Ho! and Appledore on the Torridge estuary is also well worth a visit. So, a charming comfortable cottage in a lovely unique location.

Mr C,
