Mill Barn at Bish Mill near South Molton is a wonderfully spacious, detached holiday home. Approached by a small driveway and through a private 5 bar gate which opens into the ample parking area at the front of the property.
A stable door entrance leads into a tiled utility room with storage units, handy coat hooks and space for outdoor footwear. There is a useful sink with mixer tap, whilst the adjacent room provides a convenient downstairs WC. The owners have completed the renovation to a high standard with solid oak fixtures and fittings throughout. Stepping from the utility you immediately find yourself in the spacious, modern kitchen containing everything you will need to enjoy quality mealtimes together. This light and airy room has two large windows with views overlooking the patio and surrounding countryside, ceiling spotlights, and ample worktop and storage space. A country-style dresser perfectly separates the kitchen from the dining area, which is a wonderful open plan social space with large table and chairs, countryside views and a door leading out to the patio. Amazingly there is even more to this dining area than you would expect as it expands further to accommodate an excellent cosy snug room with 3 seater sofa, 32” TV/.DVD, storage unit and Velux window. The snug provides a secondary space for children or those wishing to have “time out” whilst remaining within the social hub of other party members.
The large, carpeted living room is light and airy with glass panelled double doors leading out to the front of the property and unusual high recessed window. This room has exposed beams, a large wood burner, sofas with reclining seats and the thoughtful owners even provide a selection of books and games. Imagine those memorable evenings spent all together enjoying the warmth of a real wood burner whilst playing family games, reflecting over the days’ activities or simply relaxing in front of the 43” Smart TV. There are plenty of convenience tables and storage units provided. Leading off the living room and two steps down is the ground floor bedroom. A wooden latch door opens into this twin-bedded room which has zip ‘n’ link option to super-king (on request). The window and glass panelled door leading to the side of the property let in lots of natural light. Good quality oak furnishings include wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables.
Carpeted stairs with solid oak handrail and banister lead up to the landing where light floods in from the large Velux window. Bedroom 1 is a spacious king with quality oak furniture and full-length mirror. The large window provides views over the surrounding fields which contain an abundance of wildlife. Bedroom 2 is a twin, again with good quality furnishings, Velux window and wood panelled shelf. The two rooms are divided by the family bathroom. This spacious, fully tiled room has a double ended bath, walk-in rain shower with separate hand-held attachment, WC and basin. The wood flooring helps create a warm environment and there is a wall-length storage unit with shelf, decorative wall mirror, ceiling spotlights and heated towel rail.
As if the indoor space wasn’t enough – you will also be delighted with the garden and outdoor facility available. A large grassed area is ideal for children’s play whilst the adults can watch from the patio. This secluded area overlooks surrounding fields. What a perfect way to end the day enjoying an alfresco meal or even barbecue while watching rabbits at play, pheasants or even a sly fox or two. Popular riverside/dog walks are easily accessible from the property. To the front of the property there is undercover storage/parking as well as a secure storage shed for surfboards/ cycles etc.
This is a wonderful property providing spacious countryside accommodation yet just minutes from the busy market town of South Molton with its weekly pannier and farmers’ markets, quaint tea rooms, convenience stores, independent shops and family friendly pubs. It is also home to the famous Quince Honey Farm – a great day out for the whole family – including your four-legged friends. Known as “The Gateway to Exmoor”, South Molton is easily accessed off the North Devon Link Road and is just a short drive from the dramatic scenery of Exmoor National Park with popular local beauty spots including Landacre Bridge. A 20minute drive takes you to the larger market town of Barnstaple with its museum, bowling, cinema, theatre and much more.

Mill Barn is a lovely property on a main road but in a lovely location. I thoroughly recommend the house and will probably return in the future. I can also recommend the local pub Mill Inn, it is a five minute walk and does traditional home made pub grub.
We found the property to be just as the website described, very well equipped, clean and cosy. Ideal location for visiting the North Devon coast as well as mid Devon.
Had a lovely time, beautiful place to stay. Hope to be back.
Perfect accommodation, spacious, modern and comfortable. Visited a couple of quirky villages.
A perfect place to stay for our holiday. Comfortable and spacious accommodation. Croyde & Putsborough beaches.

Wonderful holiday home. Extremely well equipped. Had a fantastic time.
Lovely touch with cake, flowers and dog treats. Barn has everything you could need. Had a lovely week visiting all of North Devon and weather was great.
We had a lovely stay at your beautiful property. The Weather was very kind to us and we enjoyed walks on the beach Woolacombe, Saunton Sands, Instow and Westward Ho! Lovely day at Lynmouth and Lynton.
We had a lovely stay at Mill Barn. The property and furnishings are very comfortable. Everywhere was extremely clean. The welcome cake and milk in the fridge was appreciated. Mill Barn is in a good location to drive to so many places. 45 minutes the Devon and Somerset coastlines, a short drive on to Exmoor or longer drive through nice scenery down towards Dartmoor or the South of Devon. Plenty to explore by car. Mill Barn has a enclosed garden, good for children and dogs. Although it is on a main road or lays back from the road so is fairly a quite. The cottage is lovely and warm which was important for a November break away.
Beautiful ‘home from home’ property. We really felt we could unwind and relax especially curled up with a blanket and the roaring log fire. We wouldn’t hesitate to return!
Superb environment, immaculate presentation and equipped to the highest standard. I note from the in-house folder that it had been awarded 4 stars. One wonders what you have to do to get 5!
Beautiful property really didn't want to leave it! Dogs enjoyed all the outdoor space and we enjoyed the privacy. One of the best equipped houses we have stayed in. There were many small touches that we appreciated like the cake, dog treats, sanitiser, and tea and coffee. Would definitely like to return some day.
Mill Barn is a very spacious, comfortable and clean, very accessible to major road links, yet quiet and secluded, with ample parking. An array of wildlife come visit the garden if you leave food out. We will definitely stay here again.
We had a lovely week at Mill Barn very clean and comfortable with everything you need lovely garden for the dog completely safe and secure saw various wildlife in the fields fully relaxed after a stressful year would definitely recommend for a relaxing home from home.
