Heron's Haunt is immersed into the countryside located in Rattery, just outside of South Brent, Dartington and Tontes. Rattery has a bounty of public footways and beautiful country walks,. The village of Rattery houses a village shop (open every Tuesday) to get your little top up shop and has the fantastic Church House Inn which you can book and enjoy either a lunch or evening meal, this is roughly 1 mile away from the property and would take about 20 minutes to walk. Heron's Haunt offers guests best of both worlds, dive head first into the countryside life however, in short driving distances it's easy for you to visit the busy town of Totnes to get some shopping done, sight see and visit the local markets.
Heron's Haunt is semi-detached property and the family have taken extraordinary consideration in giving everything a family looks for when booking a self-catering holiday home. They have provided high quality pieces throughout the property and have used items that provide an interesting tale to the build of the house. The homeowners have used the wood that was originally on the Dartmouth Lower Ferry slipway in the property which they purchased when the slipway was refurbished. Handmade pieces, like the stairways, bannisters and furniture have been carefully made by the family and fill the property with love, care and attention to provide the best comfort to guests.

We had a fantastic time at Heron's Haunt - a much needed break after the many months of lockdown. The property is beautiful - spacious, gorgeously decorated and so well equipped, it had everything we needed and more, it far exceeded our expectations. The highlight had to be that lovely view, particularly enjoyed from the very comfortable armchairs! Thank you Roy and Jayne for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back!
Beautiful comfortable home - Roy and Jayne were exceptically friendly and helpful.
Jayne and Roy have created a wonderful ‘home from home’ with a very high end spacious property. They have thought of everything one could need and more, for a comfortable stay. The beds are super comfortable, with good quality bedding and the house is spotless. Kitchen is a pleasure to cook in and very stylish. Views are incredible and we would definitely recommend to friends. A wonderful stay.
We have just returned from a lovely week spent at Heron’s Haunt. The location is excellent and the accommodation fabulous. The house is very well equipped with top quality appliances and all the kitchen utensils etc that you could possibly need. We enjoyed many bbq evenings in the lovely garden enjoying the stunning views. The house was exceptionally clean and spacious and we felt at home right from the very first minute. The hosts (who live next door) were very welcoming and helpful. I cannot recommend this property highly enough - book now you won’t regret it! Steve B Sept 2020
We all said WOW when we walked into Heron's Haunt. We have just come back from having a lovely holiday staying at the fantastic Heron's Haunt. The accommodation is by far the best we have ever stayed in. Four large double/king-size bedrooms, two with balconies, plenty of space and storage cupboards, 6 TVs. The large kitchen has everything you need, very large lounge and dining area. This is a modern building very tastefully decorated. Peaceful area and amazing views. We really liked Heron's Haunt and hope to go back in the near future.
Herons Haunt was the perfect house for our family holiday, enabling us to spend some quality time together as a family, make some lovely memories and generally get away from it all. The facilities in the house are of a very high standard and hi-spec and the accommodation is very comfortable and versatile. The garden is south facing and we had an amazing BBQ evening sitting on the patio, looking out over the wonderful valley views. The stairgates, high chair and cot were a great help for our young grandson. The location is stunning although I did find the walk to the pub somewhat strenuous as there are some steep hills in Rattery but the younger fitter ones coped fine and even went out for some runs. The local pub ‘Church House Inn’ is great and we had a wonderful meal there. The location is great and within reasonable driving distance to Dartmoor and to the south Devon coast. Dartington and Totnes are both great for shopping too. Roy & Jayne were very friendly and extremely helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Herons Haunt.
We were so glad that we chose this property ,we were blown away by the location ,the view was amazing ,it is a spacious house , high speck fixtures & fittings ,lovely decor ,Kitchen equipment was high quality & all you would ever need for catering ,bed linen & towels were high quality also .the owners are welcoming and friendly ,they are next door if you need anything .,we have stayed in a lot of holiday properties ,this one is at the top ,we would give it 200% ,Regards Judith & Victor . If you like Beautiful Countryside ,a quiet haven to go back to each day after discovering all that Devon has to offer ,or just relaxing in the garden at Herons Haunt looking out across the rolling farmlands ,you will not be disappointed if you choose this property Regards Judith & Victor Feb/March 2020
Wonderfully spacious, good furnishings, fully fitted, wonderful view! Very satisfied, pretty little village of Rattery within short walk with attractive church to look around (unusual scraffiti!), old pub and very friendly potter Sally with a studio by the pub, the Wobbly Potter, with good wares and does classes too!
